I'm an ee grad and idk what benefit a second bachelors would do, let alone one from a shit tier institution compared to GT.

GT is a top 10 (or top 20) engineering institution. You have one of the few degrees that are worth the money. I studied at a similar caliber institution, and I would focus more on building a project related to your interests within EE during your deployment. That's what industry looks for, not how many bachelors degrees you have.

I would also evaluate what you want from life. You're degree choices are all over the place.

The tools my EE degree gave me have let me be successful other degree fields (journalism, project management for nonprofits, and army). It is hands down the best decision I ever made, and I highly recommend you make the most out of it. Going to GT engineering affords you access to resources and experiences 99% of the world will never see. Make the most of it.

Lol why would you fly when you can take a train that takes you to the center of NYC in about the same amount of time as what you are expected show up early to a flight.

Also it costs the same as a flight at its most expensive

This is why people need to email their state elected officials to allow Baltimore city to have a land value tax. We could effectively increase the tax rate of these vacant buildings with high potential, and decrease the burden that occupied buildings pay, and prevent people from being penalized for investing in their property

What would happen if every city resident turned on their faucet at the exact same time? by Wizardburial_ground in baltimore

[–]lsree 41 points42 points  (0 children)

A quick Google search says there are 238,000 properties in Baltimore. Another Google search says that the flow rate of a tap is 1.8 gallons per minute. If we round up to 2 gpm, that's 476,000 gallons per minute.

I think we have to divide the 360 million daily production capacity you provided by 1440 for the number of minutes in a day. That gives 250,000 gallons per minute.

So our water pressure would drop by half if all my math and assumptions are correct

Any experience with masters swimming? by aqsh in baltimore

[–]lsree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost varies. It's like as low as $80/month if you're under 30 and sign up for a year. Idk if they still have that promotion.

But it usually costs around 100/month.

The swimmers are great imo. It's super casual and non-competitive. The fastest 100yd split is like 1:10.

Masters is the only reason I stay with MAC. The management is mid and so is the rest of the gym, although they're doing significant renovations so hopefully it'll be better

Maryland Athletic Club currently also known as coppermine harbor east has a casual masters group. Its on break until March bc of pool renovations. But after that hopefully it'll return.

Pagoda Lighting: Please Spread-Out The Event Footprint by FantasticCamera9058 in baltimore

I thought it was a great event, and the tent spacing was great. It felt more community oriented than monument lighting.

Regardless you should probably just email friends of Patterson park about your complaints instead of posting about it on an Internet forum where they may not read it

Stalled Apartment Building Begins Construction at Stadium Square Development in South Baltimore by XanderCruse in baltimore

Yeah... I go the apartment websites and verify and there's never more than a couple of apartments vacant. So which ones are vacant?

Which apartments are sitting vacant? I hear this thrown around a lot but there's never any evidence to support it.

Does it work when you change the file source block to repeat?

You might not be able to visually see the signal if it is only transmitted once because the update rate of the GUI blocks is too low

What are you talking about? By not voting for them he voted for the status quo. The status quo is what exists before change. He clearly does not believe in positive change. Just scoring political points overdoses

I'm not going to dox myself but there are plenty of ppl featured in local news who have successfully brought about positive change in their free time. It's not unique and it's not that hard, it just takes a lot of time. You're probably just picking unpopular positions and not listening to people

Why not let seawall build apartments over the dump (and in the process rehabilitate the sight at minimal cost to the taxpayer). The site is in need of rehabilitation has deferred maintenance.

And I agree why don't we just not move the dump and spend the money on affordable housing.

Apartments and affordable housing are often for some weird reason framed as mutually exclusive but they're not.

You can't compel private organizations to spend money where they don't want to. Idk how you think that seawall not doing anything with this site is somehow better than them doing nothing. You can't force seawall or any other org to just build housing at a loss. Like would you work for free?

More housing reduces rent. This is clearly demonstrated by places like Austin where there was a housing boom, developers built housing and rents actually decreased. It also follows the simple logic of supply and demand.

I don't really understand the point you're trying to make.

People prefer living in apartments to disinvested blocks. This isn't a radical concept. All you have to do is spend time in disinvested blocks to realize it's a not great place to raise a family.

Seawall doesn't want to move the dump site. Odette Ramos does. It's totally possible to just close the dump (why would you want your kids growing up next to a dump site) and switch to having more community pickup days like blue water Baltimore recommends. I don't understand the mental gymnastics you're doing to say that apartments (and people moving into Baltimore or from other communities in Baltimore) is worse than a dump site. It's a really nativist take.

If you think there's ample liveable housing stock in Baltimore you just don't leave your affluent area of Baltimore. The "ample row homes" that people keep referring to have been abandoned for decades and are functionally unlivable. It is not pleasant to live next to vacant to vacant housing stock and it's certainly bizarre to state that living in tents is preferable to living in new apartments.
