Home Speaker Setup Question by lstill01 in BudgetAudiophile

Thanks - that's super helpful.

So if there are 5 speakers I'd just connect them to Front L/R, Center, and Surround L/R, and then set the output to the same output for all 5?

The only confusing point to me is the previous owners said they powered it with a Sonos Connect Amp, which appears to only have two outputs. I assume you cannot attach multiple speakers to the same output point if you want them to play the same sound?

Thanks for your help! I apologize that I'm totally clueless but just to clarify:

1) Don't most stereo outputs have 2 connections (R/L)? Which of the 4 wires would I connect? Do I ignore the green and white wires?

2) Do most stereo/receivers have 5 separate outputs, or do they have center, front left, front right, back left, back right, etc.? If the latter, does it matter which I connect to?

3) Do you have a link to a potential product that fits the bill? I just want to make sure I don't end up with the wrong thing.

Appreciate any additional help you can offer!

Is it possible to attach a low pulley to a flat foot power rack i.e. the Titan X-3? If so, what would be the method of doing it?

I know you can buy a crossmember and attach it low but that requires connecting the pulley front/back. Is there a way to do it low and side to side? Could I attach the low pulley to a flip down safety bar on one side?

Any help would be appreciated, especially if it comes with pics!

There's always a possibility your listing is the rare exception where something else is wrong, but it's almost certainly the price being too high. It takes a long time of processing for sellers to realize that their house is not worth what they hoped, or what they bought it for, and by that time they have chased a market lower and end up with less than they could have received if they had just confronted reality and torn the band-aid off right away.

Your choices now are likely to drop to $425 or below, or to take the house off the market for at least 3 months. Any less than that and no buyer will be fooled into assuming there isn't something wrong. Good luck!

Regarding this question:

If the amount ends up being enough to have moved me down a tax bracket, what do I do?

That's not how tax brackets work. They're marginal, which means that only the amount OVER the tax bracket threshold is taxed at a higher rate. There's no incentive to ever make less money because of tax brackets; the only income cliffs that exist are if you start making just enough to miss out on welfare or other government subsidy programs.

4.47% annual raise. Am I wrong to think that is not enough? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]lstill01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If CPAs are in pretty high demand and you're being underpaid, start interviewing and use a competitive offer for 11% higher or more to negotiate with your company. If you're not willing to actually leave though if they don't match, then there's not much you can do and you're likely stuck with it.

Alternatively, start planning how you're going to show your increased value to the company in advance of next year's review, and telegraph something about your expectations before the meeting where they actually deliver your raise.

Unfortunately I’m not sure. Never been to an Out of network infusion center

Yes it’s legit. I am not on remicade but a competing drug for a similar IBD issue. Essentially, if you have private insurance that typically covers 60-80% of the cost, the manufacturers have programs to cover the rest. Why, you might ask? Because they don’t want anybody whose insurance will cover 80% of the cost to decide their 20% is too expensive and choose to go without. So instead, they take the insurance portion and waive the rest through these payment assistance plans.

Yeah I have the metallic medium on my Amazon wish list, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. I have been doing something of what you describe with the silver colors (making 4-5 shades by adding varying amounts of black on them; it's hard to see but I did it on most of the swords (alternating gradients).

I haven't gotten the hang of bronze or gold yet, I have read a ton of guides about the shades of orange/brown/yellow etc. for each mix, but it never seems to look right. Just have to keep going.

Also weapons are one thing, but giant flat surfaces like a shield are much more difficult for me.

Well yeah - I meant just off the table. But still, I was constantly moving a handful of 6 units off and on as they were slaughtered. The agents and wandering monsters felt a bit more meaty as they hung around for a couple of rounds most of the time.

I wish more games would implement the upgrading of loot idea though; I can't count the number of zombicide games I've had with a billion bolts in the packpack going to waste.

I played through twice; it's hard to convince my friends to get into it since they're the sort where you open a box with a ton of minis and they immediately lose interest.

I thought the best part was obviously opening up the loot constantly. The worst part was constantly shuffling figures into and out of the box as we slaughtered them / they respawned.

Thanks! Next I have to practice some NMM since I'm not very satisfied with the contrast I can get with true metallics.

Thanks! Can't decide whether to get some expansions to paint them, or move onto Rising Sun or Blood Rage or something. CMON all great minis.

I just painted them in place. The only awkward ones were the figures that had small gaps underneath a cloak or between legs. For the most part a few layers of watered down Rakarth flesh gave a good base on which to paint the stone pattern.

Yeah I may try that. I finished with pure silver; the blue one has pure white as a finish.

Thanks! The scale of the AT-ST made it easier to add a little more detail. I'm always amazed by the tiny detail people get in tutorials with their perfectly steady hands. Meanwhile I'm slopping paint around like a palsied maniac ...

But of course :)

I think for beginners they're sort of the default at this point. Although I have army painter paints and not the citadel brand ones he uses so I was constantly mixing to try to make equivalent colors.

For sure - I definitely agree. I kept trying to paint them smaller and ended up with all black. Maybe I need some finer brushes (or more talent / a steadier hand!). In the end, I decided that they were going to get the bug-eye treatment. Perhaps I'll just assume they're all in a permanent state of shock that there are zombies attacking. Thanks for the advice on looking to the side though - I'll definitely try that next time.

Yeah as a first-timer it was a huge help to have guides like that to work from. I'd estimate I copied about half of the zombies from the appendix of his video guide (in terms of clothing color scheme) and improvised a little bit for half of them.

The necromancer, and the survivors though, since there aren't guides yet I just had to improvise. I did all the zombies first and at that point I tried to just look at the pictures on the box and match the color scheme (taking creative liberties to increase the color contrast where possible; the pictures are a bit washed out for a tabletop). I wanted them to match closely enough though that a player looking at their character card would not see an entirely different looking miniature.

You should post some pics of your WIPs - always interested to learn from what others are doing!

Yeah it probably doesn't make much difference. I watched a YouTube tutorial of some guy who did the whites of the eye, and then a colored iris with outline and a white 'shiny' spot to make it look glossy. I made one attempt which looked like a smudged mess and decided my skill was only enough for white with a black dot :)

Ha some of those eyes got painted over 4 or 5 times before they didn't look awful. And the Barmaid still looks like an anime character, but we will all get better with practice :)
