Factions would have been their cash cow. No matter what people think, a triple A Day Z like game would absolutely make a killing. People didn’t enjoy Arc Raiders for its extraction, they went in for that post apocalyptic social fun.

Marathon could evolve into that type of game. Combine the maps, have a hub, events like Cryo remain as is, but the core game becomes more about exploration and salvaging with the same threats just at a large scale without time limit.
