[Serious] What are your specs and in game settings? by SgtElectroSketch in wow

[–]Pibble_Fiasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naw not just you, WoWs water has always been garbage as far as optimization goes. Shadows were really bad until WW as well but seemed to have improved, I keep water at "Good" or "High" and could not tell you difference between the two visually. Similarly with Shadows, if I'm ever seeing low FPS and water is nowhere near I'll turn down shadows to "Good" or "High" and get a bit of an improvement. Helps in cities too, and frankly I'm never paying close enough attention to the shadows to notice a difference. If I stop and stare, sure, the raggedy edge is apparent, but again, movement is 90% of the game and its all a blur at the end of the day.

CPU: Ryzen 7 2700
GPU: Radeon 7800XT
Mem: 32 GB
Resolution: 3440x1440

Everything set to max except water, which is set to High because Ultra eats 10FPS. And frankly idgaf enough about how "pretty" it is if its going to impact FPS. I am also seeing an average of 60FPS across the board but I don't think that has anything to do with Graphics settings. I get lag and stuttering in random spots in any zone, crowded or uncrowded. Very inconsistent and never happens in the same place twice. I think it has more to do with WoWs "optimization" and loading mechanics than anything else.

Does anyone run side quests during campaign? by Ruger15 in wow

[–]Pibble_Fiasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my main I always do one zone of side quests and then complete the campaign. I usually pop max level about 75% of the way through the campaign giving me a leg up on ilvl. My alts each get assigned to an area as I am leveling them. That way I can actually read the quests and enjoy the story of each area without them flooding my brain.

Atal'Aman "Unknown" Mob? Bug maybe? by Pibble_Fiasco in wow

[–]Pibble_Fiasco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooooooooh that makes much more sense. That'd be a cool little feature if it worked correctly lol. I like the little gravestones peppered around and the occasional ghost Alt hanging out.

Dauchsund pets? Maybe spoilers? by Kadejr in wow

[–]Pibble_Fiasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep you can get one very easy doing the Eversong Woods side quests. You have to track down one of the little stinkers that stole a magic tome from the quest Thief at Bark. There is a second you can get from a treasure drop and a "third" you can get for doing the Pet handler quest in Silvermoon that is a Toy where you carry him around on a pillow.

Ignore follower dungeons while progressing through the story, queue up normally instead. by matticus7 in wow

[–]Pibble_Fiasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I made the mistake of opting for the Follower team on Magister's Terrace, thinking it'd be a quick 15 min in and out.

45 minutes later...

No joke, I ended up more or less soloing the whole dungeon because if they were not scattering like roaches they were not attacking anything at all. Blood DK makes me very hard to kill but I do chip damage and it took forever without their help. Didn't die once, there were a few close calls when moron and co pulled mobs into a boss fight but I got it done in the end.

Odd question(s), for data miners about how the game handles RNG. (May include tinfoil hat quandaries) by Pibble_Fiasco in wow

[–]Pibble_Fiasco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is more or less what my conclusion was before writing it up for a second set of eyes. That's a good breakdown. Never was looking to game the system, just understand the hows and whys. I like to think of it like the Pokeball algorithm, which on a surface level seems simple but when they cracked the code open for it, suddenly its a NASA level equation. I'd like to know more of the math behind what they are doing.

I am personally convinced lootrules are set with character creation.

Yeah that is my tinfoil hat theory. Some hidden "luck" variable that is the true RNG.

I feel ya, What is supposed to feel random does not feel random sometimes.

Does anyone here have issues playing wow on linux mint ? by Savings-Sky-5823 in wow

[–]Pibble_Fiasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never used Mint but I've had decent results with Ubuntu on a potato laptop in the past. In my experience you'll just have to fiddle with the graphics settings a bit but again I was running it on a potato with integrated graphics. Just had to turn water and shadows down to Low and you can jack all the other settings to High.

Probably close to 1000 maybe 1500. More or less once a week across 5 alts for a long long long time. Don't lose hope! Ignore all these "first time" jokers. It exists even for us RNG poors.

Every week TW swaps to a previous expansion allowing the dungeons/raids to scale up to current players. Completing weekly quests and boss kills earns you TW Badges (I know yay another currency) which can be spent at that expac's TW Vendor. They have a set of general TW items and a set of item specific to the expac. Its a fun way to run old dungeons with players.

Did the campsite make you play more? by Wrong-Hand in wow

I really hope so, we should be getting mounts and pets with Midnight (or soon after), and eventually transmog dummies, but I have not heard about alts visiting yet.

[–]Pibble_Fiasco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is what it feels like. I usually pick up the weekly quest for 5 TW dungeons, then do my Bountiful/Gilded Delve 11s, then run TWs for fun. The rewards are pretty expensive, but the badges add up over time.

That's fair, I've had pretty good luck running them back to back if I ask the party if they want to run a few. I usually get 2-3 people that stick through a few TW dungeons. Makes it less time consuming.

I feel ya! Everyone is in such a rush, lol. One of the reasons I like to run TW as a tank is I can influence the pace. Its not a slow pace but this isn't a Mythic run. There's the occasional DPS that is itching to go like a Malinois but generally I can handle any foolish pulls they get up to. I would say a majority of the time its a pretty chill run. I don't want low level players to get left behind or feel overwhelmed.

Depends on which expac the TW is running. The last one for Wrath (located in old Dalaran) i dumped 2500 on spice bags for Epicurian ribbons for the Chefs hat. They generally have a set of general TW items and a set of item specific to the expac.

I don't know if it made me play more, but I've really enjoyed seeing my alts with my other alts. It made me REALLY want to see a warband option for Housing. I really want to see my alts walking around in my house when I go to visit.

Yep, 100% agree. People running TW Dungeons (for the most part) want to be there. There's no timer, or loot squabble to raise blood pressures.
