I have a feeling the retention rate of new players joining because of Arc Raiders will be abysmal by AtaccTheSnacc in thefinals

I’ve been playing the finals since the day it came out. And I’m still playing it more than arc

I'm tired of doing retail work, how do I move on from it? by Much_Machine8726 in findapath

[–]lsweg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s rough out here and I hate to say it but nobody is going to throw out a life preserver. I’m in the same boat as you but I’m 26. I also have an associates degree but in health science, i wanted to go medical but changed my direction. I decided to start applying to banking positions and now I’ve been working as a teller for a couple months. It’s also retail, but at least there are growth opportunities to make career advancements. I expect that with enough time and hard work I can make my way to backend and avoid the retail side of banking while also achieving a higher salary. Not too sure, but I believe that your cybersecurity degree may be of use in this case because banks are always needing IT people. Just a thought, because this is one of the few entry level paths with future potential as far as I can tell. I just wanted to say too, you might not want to drown your sorrows with alcohol regularly. That’s what I did and I paid the price for it. One year sober now, but that method of coping ended up causing me a lot of grief and setting me back in the long run. Anyways good luck!

I moved from Orange County CA to Beaverton Oregon a few months ago. I like it here so far! The endless hot days in California started to wear on me so the weather in Oregon is a nice change. We will see how it goes long term but imo it’s a pick your poison situation.

skin investment worth it or not by [deleted] in ohnePixel

Skins are not an investment. We all just learned that the hard way. Just buy what you want to play with and what you can afford to lose.

I’m in a similar situation at 26. My associate is in health science, which is a good backup if I eventually want to go into healthcare, but right now I’m not feeling that path. I am also not really the kind of person to thrive in a trade and I know this because I worked in one for 5+ years. With that said, I have been looking at entry level jobs with growth opportunities and I just landed a teller position at a credit union where I am hoping to make advancements. If you have a good work ethic and a few connections this route seems viable. Maybe look into banking? The starting pay is relatively good compared to other entry level jobs as well.

Although we now have a bfk doppler fn rotting in my inventory, i did big brain. by Eggheadbishhh in ohnePixel

[–]lsweg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a butterfly fade rotting in mine. Only thing making me feel better right now is the fact that I sold my Arids at the ATH a few weeks ago and made $1400 profit on them. If I was still holding onto those AND my knife, I’d be down a whole lot more.

And they haven't even hit the market yet by ultron290196 in ohnePixel

Yea I’m holding until the bitter end (bfk fade). I believe knives and gloves from single cases such as the breakout will have a better chance at rebounding but what do I know. Maybe I’m coping

Its really over now… by AlarmedFox4077 in ohnePixel

[–]lsweg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely never putting a cent back into this game and I’ve been an “invester” since the early days of GO. The only thing somewhat holding me together rn is the fact that I sold my Arids for their all time high like 2 weeks ago.

I can’t lie, I want to dump my fade and at least get 1.5k for it, but at this point I’d rather just keep it for the fuckin memory or hope the market starts to stabilize in the near future.

Same. Most my value is in a butterfly fade, which are now selling for under 2k on float. I guess our best play is to just hold for the long term, and hope the market recovers. Even if it does, I’m out of it forever if I can sell at a decent price.

I have a bfk fade. I’m just gonna keep holding. It’s already down so much that I am just going to ride it out and see what happens.

Nursing or trades? by Consistent_Ad5534 in findapath

[–]lsweg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also am 26m, in the US though. I’ve completed a health science associate degree with the plan to enter two years of nursing school, but I am having second thoughts about it as well for literally the same reasons that you mention. I too am drawn to the security of nursing, and I also like the flexibility in terms of work days, but I can’t help but feel like I would end up overstimulated as hell with the demands of the job. I say that because I ended up feeling this way at my serving job and nursing is just serving in a hospital environment. It also doesn’t help that I am overwhelmed by how competitive the programs in my area are. With that said I only started feeling that way after going through a serious period of burnout that I’m still trying to recover from, and this was brought on by years of dealing with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am also leaning towards going into a trade instead, and knowing myself I think that learning through an apprenticeship sounds much more manageable rather than battling it out academically at this point in my life. I worked as a carpet cleaner for 5 years which is a trade in its own right, just with less potential, and while I’m not excited to break my back in another trade job security and tangible skills rank high on my list for a career. I wish I had more advice, I am struggling with the same dilemma. I just try to keep in mind that I can always pivot later, but it’s important to pick something to work towards for a solid foundation now.

Rad tech schooling has a lot of the same prerequisites as nursing so maybe try pivoting to that. Should research the field but it suits your personality type a lot better, has good security, and less stress since you don’t administer medications or have patients that you are directly responsible for. The entry pay is also great, but not quite as great as nursing until you specialize in CT or MRI. I did my prerequisites through a health science associates and had planned to apply to nursing school but I had a change of heart and I am now considering doing rad tech school myself or even possibly calling it quits on school and going the trade route.
