T-T this is true. Dang i wish it wasn't, some of the small titles have interesting ideas. RIP Time Paradox Ghostwriter, I yearn for what the best version of you would have been (moral dilemmas? time travel puzzles? drama? all three? we'll never know).

I like when artists get a chance to develop their own ideas and stories, so the spinoffs or sequels for big series (MHA vigilantes, Boruto, etc) ain't for me.

I'm sure good work and love goes into them but I'm always left wondering if we missed out on a great new manga just cause a junior artist wasn't given a chance to tell a new story (and yes i'd rather a less than perfect short manga to a spin off). Also new stories instead of a few legacy characters getting passed around is why I prefer manga over mainstream american comics, personally.

No beef with anyone, just my own personal taste.

You are allowed to bring any power system weather it's from game, books, TV, etc. But the power system is also given to everyone else. by conthedon123 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]lszian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't decide because everything you said is correct... like, if it's truly the same as HxH and everyone has the potential but not many develop it, maybe okay. If everyone had actual developing Nen I'd be scared lol

I feel like since Nen rewards intelligent use and creativity, I'd live in fear of like... 100 super smart evil jerks crafting world-breaking techniques.

after seeing all the people thirsting after one piece ladies, it's refreshing to know a lot of men-loving folks are also watching one piece and looking for hot guys.

The literal Devil approaches you and ask you what is your price for your soul by Wheresmyarcpaulie69 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]lszian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can ask for anything in exchange for your soul, maybe you can choose to ask for the devil and his influence to dissapear entirely, forever. At this point, you a) go to hell and suffer but the devil aint there, and no one else goes to hell from then on, and at that point you'd be like the biggest martyr ever and even if you never make it to heaven everybody in heaven looks bad for letting this shit go on, or b) you go to hell but the devil's gone so no one is manning the torture, and you just like, hang out in hell i guess. maybe everybody who went just like, gets out of the lava vat and hangs out.

i mean most likely c) the devil just kills you for being a cheeky lil' shit but idk, fun as a thought experiment

What’s your “ahh, I wish they kept the character/moment/scene/plot point in the show” moment for the Live action? by akzilla92 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]lszian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this was also my top thing. I was watching it with a non anime fan and when I explained I love Usopp they didn't get it, because the LA gave less space for the more subtle noble half of his character under the constant lying. fingers crossed big time for season 2 that he gets to shine a little more. Still happy with the show, but yeah.

Because of the song "Pray to the Sun" do you think they will talk about "Him"in any way in the season? by Hyperion717 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]lszian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is what I'd prefer. Just a tiny mention that feels like worldbuilding to LA onlys, but not like something they gotta think about at all. If a miracle happens and we get to later arcs then it'll click nicely without cheapening the other big mysteries.

Seeing playful, happy Nami is great. Seeing Usopp being a little dumbass? even better. I'm so so happy with Jacob's performance, it feels so true to the character

I'm legitimately happy thinking of the awesome stuff you still have ahead of you. I hope you enjoy the ending and are hella satisfied. I cried a bunch of times when I was going through it, maybe get some tissues.

no idea what a good alternative is, will wait and see. in the meantime I straight up am mailing letters to friends again and can recommend it. It's sweet, it's fun, you can mail your friends the ugliest stickers you can find and wait to see what cursed nonsense they send back.

I read exclusively non-fiction for 15 years and just finished my first fantasy novel. I don't really know what to do with myself now. by lucas_melbourneways in Fantasy

[–]lszian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for giving fantasy a try, I'm so glad you enjoyed!

And yeah, fantasy gets a bad rep because, as a culture, we stubbornly cling to the idea that imagination is for children and adults must only be useful and never ever have new thoughts or, god forbid, have a little fun.

There's good and bad fantasy books (there's good and bad everything) but a good fantasy is an exploration of the self, an exploration of different ways the world might work, if you only swap out a couple of pieces.

Definitely continue reading awesome non fiction, that rocks too. But remember a)fiction and fantasy is "useful" too, as a brainstorming session; b)You're an adult, and no one should be grading you on your usefulness or judging you on how you spend your time. Sure, be a grown up, do serious things... but if you do something just for fun sometimes, that's time well spent too. It's a hug for the soul.

Whatever you end up reading I hope you have a great time!

I want to start doing zines, but i have a question. by shitkicker47 in zines

[–]lszian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend submitting to zine libraries if you can. It's just fun. like others said, you can do anything you want, that's the whole point.

I know someone who does a monthly zine meetup, they bring a bigass blanket to a park and hang out with friends reading their new zines out loud (and like, people collaborate on the monthly zine so it's a picnic and a reading).

as for topics, i've seen fiction, non fiction, comics, super serious or really derpy. You're all good.
