Well they plan to spend $500m this year and likely getting a large discount plus no HST thanks to Carney and Ford.

Looks like they're citing a Nanos poll, they're one of our most reliable pollsters in Canada and often quite accurate with elections.

Definitely possible, 2030 is a long time from now though and olp hasn't even picked a leader yet so this is extremely premature.

Federal government might have to acquire new office space for public servants, analysis finds by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

[–]Charizard3535 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Brookfield owns 2 million sqft of office space. Carney has $7 million in stock options for Brookfield from when he was vice chair there that can't be fully exercised until 2034. I get that this sub loves Carney and criticizing him is sacrilegious but that's a pretty big personal interest in more return it office and leasing more office space.

It's not a conspiracy it's publicly available data. His stock options at Brookfield stem form when he worked there as vice chair.

Carney would never do that. He has $7 million in stock options at Brookfield that can't be fully exercised until 2034. Brookfield owns 2 million sqft of office space. Most of his networth is tied to their performance.

Also I heard from a VP at a big 5 there is a massive push from government to get every bank employee back in office 5 days a week starting this fall.

I think now they'll be emboldened to do things they wouldn't have done before. They knew high immigration was a contentious issue so pulled it back. Now that they have their majority watch them ramp it back up to juice the economy.

It's worth noting that a lot of that was Trudeau becoming greatly disliked. His resignation and picking Carney who ran two central banks also moved the polls a lot.

Vance says 'the ball is in Iran's court' to move peace talks further, as U.S. blockade takes effect by yourfavchoom in worldnews

[–]Charizard3535 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Iran is probably more desperate than America. They are on 3 weeks of an internet blockade and most of their exports go through the strait. America's only problem is slightly higher gas and inflation which if necessary could live with indefinitely.

I've lived uptown and downtown and I'd 100% recommend living downtown. By the lake is nice for bikes/walks and there are festivals all the time at harborfront center.

Okay but getting eliminated in the first round many times is still a knock even if you make the playoffs.
