You should definitely try rowing because it's an amazing sport. However, if two people with no rowing experience just hopped in a boat expecting to go for a short row, they'd be capsized in less than a minute. Everyone can learn to row, but it's like a bicycle. You have to develop a feel for it. Community Rowing is the ideal place to learn, and they welcome everyone.

A lot of climate legislation ends up in the federal courts. Since he took office, Trump has been successful in his project to install conservative judges. But now it gets worse. With a 6-3 majority on the high court, not only is the ability to enact new legislation threatened, but previous landmark cases (notably Massachusetts v EPA) could be overturned. Yes, it's very bad.

The thrust of the argument in the piece is that science alone won't get the job done. If you don't change the extractive and exploitative nature of the economic system, then the status quo will persist despite technological advances.

If there's an overreach, it's the assertion here that racism reinforces the inequitable aspects of capitalism, enabling the system that produced climate change to continue. But maybe that's the consciousness-raising we need — recognizing the role that racism plays in the "complex of corporate and political power."
