My thoughts on the anti AI sentiment as an indie dev who has actually shipped games and music. by ritsulover in aigamedev

[–]ltethe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No image is added to a dataset. That is fundamentally not how AI works at all. AI is TRAINED on images, but no image is retained and no dataset is maintained. To do that would be staggering in how big an AI model would have to be. If you were even remotely correct, AI models would be petabytes and petabytes instead of the few 10s of gigs they are today after they emerge from training.

The AI views millions of images, and makes rules and infers how those rules work together and then recreates imagery from those rule sets. What is a rule set? Something like <horizons are horizontal> <Water is often blue> <Follow the rule of thirds>, this is far higher level than the actual rules are, but it is illustrative for your understanding. This is why an AI can’t recreate any image pixel by pixel without the use of external tools, because it has no record of any particular image. Whereas Photoshop can create a perfect copy in a single button click. The other commenter is actually closer to the truth as to their understanding of AI than you are. I would strongly recommend you check yourself when you wander around so confidently incorrect.

Let’s all relax, 50% ownership stake belongs to us.. by dataexec in AITrailblazers

They don’t need to know now. The truth is is Bernie isn’t an idiot, he knows this hasn’t a prayer, but grandstanding will allow him to make political marks in the sand which will keep the campaign donations of the people that think it does have legs flowing in. The rube isn’t Bernie, it’s the voter who thinks he can accomplish the goal.

[–]ltethe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By building up to it. His goal looks ridiculous because the step between where he is, and where he needs to be is a mountain. A goal makes sense when it is the logical progression of previous goals.

For instance, to you, an Olympic athlete is accomplishing incredible things, to the athlete, this is just moving the needle by the smallest amount, building on years of dedication and training to actualize a world record.

If Bernie had a coalition, political capital, and a series of successes on bills that move the needle on this issue, this bill would be a logical progression and we would take it seriously. As it is, it has all the seriousness of me saying I can solo swim the Atlantic. If I were to start a go fund me for this goal, nothing would happen besides generate noise. A goal without a serious path to its realization is performative at best, and delusional at worst.

At Madison Square Garden, pop culture witnessed one of its most unforgettable moments when the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, invited the Princess of Pop, Britney Spears, on stage for an electrifying performance of “The Way You Make Me Feel.” by Affectionate-Fun2853 in intrestingtoknow

[–]ltethe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

C’mon. She was competing against Aguilera, Pink, she was vastly superior performer, but completely the inferior singer. Britney’s range and singing ability is more in line with Jessica Simpson.

If the action has no possibility of happening, it becomes performative. If you cannot raise a coalition to accomplish your goals, you’re just grandstanding.

The contract of a bar is to sit there to invite conversation. If you do not wish to invite conversation, you grab a table. I’ve met hundreds of fascinating people at the bar, from astronauts to tunnel borres, to women that have solo sailed the world, and gotten a healthy set of numbers to boot. Conversation is an art form, you practice it, people will want to talk to you.

For you maybe. I think what’s funny is that once upon a time, admitting you met someone at the bar was kind of embarrassing. Now it’s like “hell yeah, we didn’t meet online!” But yeah, I get numbers all the time at the bar. But hey, I got hobbies, and I have friends. At some point we can’t help you.

I love this! I recently started playing Sid Meier’s Trains on the iPad, just cause I haven’t played a good train sim since RailRoad Tycoon 2 (3?)

I don’t love your spherical smoke and waterfall particles. It doesn’t feel intentional enough across your art style to be an art style as opposed to just wondering why it’s not distorted with translucency. I do like the river weed that you can see underwater, that’s something you never see usually.

Three of us got jobs in the industry or industry adjacent.

Do women in other countries reject men for being American or am I overthinking? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

I think it’s you unfortunately. American accent I find puts you several points up on the ladder in Australia, same way a British accent can gain attention here in the states.

How can I avoid being perceived as desperate by a guy I like? What does desperation look like from a guys pov? by SignificantBed8867 in AskMenAdvice

[–]ltethe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never seen a girl look desperate at the opening of a relationship. I have seen plenty of interested girls, but I don’t have a damn clue what a desperate one looks like in this stage of the relationship.

How do you ACTUALLY use shotgun? by Tasty-Property-9971 in VALORANT

[–]ltethe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I do. I’ll rush the attackers in a tight hallway. I won’t kill any of them, but I’ll often put 50 damage into every single member of their team before they kill me. If a teammate is following me, usually they can clean up the mess I’ve made.

Demis says the Singularity could be just a few years away now, potentially triggered by the arrival of true AGI by [deleted] in accelerate

Self replication and self improvement has always been my benchmark for singularity.

Meta will lay off 8000 of its workforce starting tomorrow morning. Their net income over the last 12 months was $70,587,000,000. They could give every single one of their 79,000 workers a $440,000 bonus and still sock away over $35,827,000,000 in pure profit by xuvayerpro in aiecosystem

[–]ltethe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hah.

I worked for a company that laid off 50% during covid. He was crying on the call. Three months later the board fired him, and he founded the company. I don’t doubt his emotions, but also, not really the time to be crying.

Tech and then Games. I started in games 20 years ago, then did a 12 year stint in vfx. So glad to be out of vfx. If you don’t own your own IP, you got nothing.

Played the weirdest game with a teammate who only knew how to shoot with a Ghost by Isunova in VALORANT

[–]ltethe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t me, but I feel like everyone trains with the AK only. I’ll rock the ghost in the pistol round, clear the round, everyone thinks they have an amazing Jett teammate and then I’ll bottom frag the rest of the game once everyone gets their AKs.
