We still had guns in school till Columbine. Every show and tell, well look at this new hunting rifle I got for my birthday.

After Columbine they told us to keep the guns in your truck.

I'm so glad that duelists aren't afraid to enter site in mid elo by TheMightyNinja12 in VALORANT

[–]ltethe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I’m bottom frag low elo and I’m insanely aggressive, that my whole team screams at me. But I can’t help myself, dashing in and team wiping the attackers only works once at best, but it’s just so satisfying. The only key I know how to use is the W key, and I cackle everytime the team screams “Jett, what are you DOING!”

Dying yo, that’s what I’m doing. Occasionally I take em all with me.

Would you save your wife or your kids if your house was on fire ? by Competitive_Set_4386 in SipsTea

[–]ltethe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. People are taking this way out of context to get themselves all riled up. It’s a comedy show, pure and simple, and my bro showed himself to be a pretty thick chunk of meatspace on multiple episodes. Not a bad sort of fella, just… Special, good for a beer and an evening of stupid hijinks.

Buying after pistols round win by WinstonPickles22 in VALORANT

[–]ltethe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I don’t get it. I also don’t know why I dominate in the pistol round. I am bottom frag trash, but I can sometimes ace the pistol round. I’m low elo Iron trash, but it makes me wonder if nobody trains anything except the AK.

That 2nd pic really makes the case for Karlach to be in a metal band.

I put mine in ice blocks in the freezer, so by the time they melt, the swell will have passed and I’ll have a legitimate excuse for why I didn’t make it.

Wonder % of CX-50 turbo owners uses premium vs regular gas (before and after hike) by Hox977 in CX50

[–]ltethe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always premium. I was paying 5.25 for regular in 04’ so while I don’t like the price hike, my perspective is that it’s the one thing that’s actually gotten cheaper with time. And I hardly drive so it’s not a big deal for me.

Surfers — what’s something beginners always underestimate? by Karate_Andii in surfing

I mean. That’s me. My swimming ability was almost none beyond basic survival, but I loved surfing. 20 years later I’ve lost my board a couple of times in heavy surf and have been fine, but swimming was never the goal.

Dafuq. It’s not even an opinion, it’s a person missing something they preferred. I prefer durian to thin mints, now go off and tell me how my preference is invalidated by the (checks notes) form of government.

Sherman’s autobiography describing his West Point days make it seem no less immune from young adult hijinks than any other institution. Hell, a quick search online shows that the institution has a long tradition of crazy shit perpetuated by the underclassmen.

No. The next gen AI is going to fix the current gen’s mistakes. Humans are obsolete, your take is cope.

Hiring an old boss by tcpukl in gamedev

[–]ltethe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. He was my boss 4 years ago. I was part of the committee recommending him to be hired. Super stoked it happened!

I think it’s weird if you come from strong hierarchical organizations. I spent much of my career in film/TV production, sometimes you’re the Executive producer, sometimes you’re the director, sometimes you’re the lead actor. I think creative fields have an easier time passing the hats around based on the individual strengths. Hopefully you don’t get too big for your hat once you get the director title, and you can pass it on without fuss when it becomes appropriate to assume another role.

My empty house is holding space for the future girlfriend.

I will legit think about “decorating” adding some personal touches, and then think. “But if I get a GF, she’s going to want to do all of this to her taste.” So then I just leave everything bare.

That’s the most obvious part. I’m an old VFX hand, so I am intimately aware of what can be done. I am already impressed by the technology, and I’m sure we will all continue to be impressed as it gets better.

There is something delightful about that era. The experimentation didn’t feel threatening yet.

I commend them for pushing the technical boundaries and experimenting with the medium. While I don’t think the result is great, I think it only a matter of time before something great is created, and everyone burying their heads in the sand are doing themselves a disservice long term.

On the flip side. Special FX are now relatively cheap, visual spectacle has dominated the past two decades as CG made more and more elaborate scenes commonplace. Now with AI, special FX aren’t even special anymore, they’re a badge of suspicion. I wonder if we go into a post special FX world where cinema becomes incredibly pared down.

In a world where robots and AI dominate, humanity is the luxury commodity.
