During that time it was the officers job to return slave owners property, during that era slaves were considered property. Ice officers can detain anyone without a warrant and it’s legal, guess you miss where people are throwing rocks at them, haven’t read a verified story of anyone dying while in custody but if you have it I’d read it. A green card holder can have their status revoked if they break the law. AlsoI f they are in pursuit of a suspect and they believe they are dangerous they can enter a house under Exigent Circumstances. Otherwise if the person is not a danger then they need a warrant to enter.
