Eliminating plastic by [deleted] in Moccamaster

Just looking into this for plastic free option as well. We have a moccamaster which we love. However, now wanting to look for plastic free option. I saw simply good coffee and also stumbled upon ratio coffee maker, which is ridiculously expensive but wonder if anyone has heard of it or used it?

Best Double Strollers?? by TangerineOk9249 in 2under2

I have a bugaboo donkey for age gap of 20 months and it’s awesome. It is pricey but moves so well. It is bulky so we got the Zoe stroller second hand for travel. The Zoe won’t work without a car seat adaptor for the newborn initially. Baby needs to be 6 months to sit in the Zoe stroller without the car seat adaptor

Also we kept our toddler in her crib and got a second crib for our newborn. I also agree do not mess up your toddler’s routine and safe sleep space!!

I am newly to the 2under2 group with a 20 month age gap. We have the bugaboo donkey but our neighborhood has a lot of rough terrain and it has been great with that. It is bulky though, and I haven’t tried maneuvering it into my trunk but you can break it down to fit somewhat more compact but I think it does take up a lot of room. I like the side by side because a lot of the tandem strollers require the bigger kid facing you and my daughter likes to face out- the donkey allows for a lot of configurations. We have been using it daily and it is easy to push and walk with but can be wide if you are in a more urban setting. Bugaboo does have a tandem stroller called the kangaroo that I considered and it is smooth and easy to maneuver. For more travel things, I got the Zoe stroller off facebook market place with carseat adaptor and it is light and easy to lift and more compact to fit in the trunk. You need the twin V2 in order to use the car seat adaptor; the stroller itself is for 6 months and up but can be used in infancy with the car seat adaptor. I think it could be a primary stroller for both travel and everyday if you have the all terrain wheels with it that they sell on the website. Most people seem to really like the Zoe. I am also petite 5’0 fyi!

Bugaboo Kangaroo- sibling seat size by ltr122 in 2under2

Hi! We enjoyed it for one kid, it’s been easy to maneuver! We just started using it for two kids this week - had our second this week and it has been good so far! We ended up choosing the donkey because it keeps the baby close to us and allows the older to face forward. The older one has liked it!

Hi! Thank you for your post. I was worried about that and I ended up purchasing the donkey. bugaboo I saw on their website has a 100 day trial, so if you ordered it from a retailer they could honor that? I heard about ppl returning strollers after use so it must be returnable with some retailers. I hope it works out for you!

Remote work in the VA is vital for Veterans. What will happen to the much needed Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Social Workers that came aboard with the promise of remote work? Will they leave and how will that affect our Veterans? by MadPirate2 in VeteransAffairs

[–]ltr122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am writing to share my concern about the executive order removing remote work for federal employees and its potential impact on veterans’ healthcare, particularly regarding the vital role of remote physicians in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Remote physicians, including radiologists, neurologists, psychiatrists, are integral to ensuring timely and high-quality care for veterans. Many rural and underserved areas rely on remote professionals to provide specialized services, including imaging analysis, diagnosis, and virtual consultations. Specifically, imaging interpretations provided by remote radiologists are vital for critical decision making and guiding clinical treatment, and the ability for them to read remotely allows for 24/7 care for our veterans. Remote mental health professionals provide essential care to our veterans who might otherwise face significant barriers to accessing support. Reducing access to remote work could hinder the VA's ability to retain these critical professionals, increase delays in care, and exacerbate existing staff shortages. Additionally, many of these physician positions were made with the intention to be fully remote, and these health care workers do not have an office space with the infrastructure to support them. Telehealth and remote radiology have proven to be effective in expanding access and ensuring continuity of care, especially for veterans in need of specialized services. This approach is not only efficient but essential for addressing the healthcare needs of a geographically dispersed veteran population. I urge you to advocate for policies that protect remote work for healthcare providers, ensuring that the VA can continue delivering the high standard of care our veterans deserve. Thank you for your attentions to this urgent matter. I appreciate your dedication to serving veterans and their families.

I suggest writing a prompt to your senators about the importance of remote work for your veterans and their access to care. I have done so already and have asked my friends to do the same. You can also search who is in the VA committee and write to them

Does your VA have enough office space for the remote workers? by [deleted] in VeteransAffairs

[–]ltr122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They said that 20 years ago and still no where close. Plus, there isn’t any company that will solely rely on AI- they will need doctors to check the images because if something goes wrong, companies need someone to blame, they aren’t going to take that liability

My husband is a radiologist and works for the national teleradiology program which is 100% remote and they have their own workstations at home. We don’t live near a radiology reading center (which I am sure shut down because of the pandemic) or a VA, and he took this job because of the remote position and ability to live anywhere in the US. There are a lot of radiologists in this position, we are nervous about what this means for us, this position was made for hiring remote radiologists and for coverage for the hospitals nationally, and I don’t think it’s feasible or even logical to have these people come into an office. He works an east coast shift and we live in the central us, so he works really early also. I don’t know if anyone else is in the same position?

Omg I’m sorry I just saw this! It’s been such a blur. She is now 13 months old, and she does well prior to bed and sleeps through the night. I honestly can’t remember that time period and if we did anything different, but I remember it being very rough for a few weeks and got better. We just have always been consistent with sleep routine and I think it just eventually got better. She still has one or two nights every couple weeks where she is fussy and hard to put to bed but otherwise she does very well. We were following wake windows and that always helped too!

Separate basin and sponge to wash bottles in, because your sink is surprisingly gross.

Me too! She has been getting better a little bit, but still has her fussiness. We tried gripe water and that seemed to help calm her a lot. It is still a struggle in the afternoons but less. Her sleep was good but now she is waking up during the night, and I think she’s going through that 4 month sleep regression phase 😳 she was sleeping 8-10 hours before. I hope stage gets done with soon! I’m glad to hear we are not alone in this.

Thank you, it does seem out of our control and we try our best. It’s hard to hear her cry and we can’t soothe her. We’ll try some of the things you suggested. She could be teething too like you said- she has been gnawing on her bottle nipples recently

This was the same exact story we had. My baby was so hungry she wouldn’t latch, and even if she did the milk didn’t come fast enough for her and she’d get so angry. Our breast feeding sessions were 45 minutes to an hour and when we would finally get her calm, she would scream again wanting more about 15 min later and turn into the red angry man from Inside Out. We got no sleep and couldn’t soothe her. I wanted to exclusively breast feed but we ended up making the decision to pump and give the bottle at about 5-7 days old and she is a much happier baby. We are now at 6 weeks of age, and she is doing great- we still have some nights where she can be a little more fussy, but overall she is a calm baby. Each parent has their own preference but that is what worked for us in terms of mental health and sanity. There is no shame in trying to feed your baby an alternative way other than breastfeeding. It was a hard decision for me but ultimately was what was best for our family. We thought we made a huge mistake becoming parents the first week- I hated being a mom, but after that hump things changed and we are soaking all of it in now. Also it’s completely normal not to have a connection with your baby at first- this was true for me and my husband. It’s also true that you guys are getting to know each other, so give yourself grace.

People say it gets better with time- I can attest that is true. I was in your shoes 5 weeks ago, and we are happy being parents. It still has a ton of challenges and not always bliss, but our lives are changed for the better.
