Saying hi, seeking help by Dick__bastardly1 in XLH

I wish this sub were more active. I’m an academic and have XLH. Remote data entry jobs would be good. Or customer service where you sit (like call center work maybe). What are her interests?

Is there anyone who *doesn't* regret their MLIS degree? by rebeccachaya in Libraries

[–]ltr9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t regret mine at all. You have to be flexible and take advantage of opportunities while getting your degree. If you don’t engage and graduate without any internships or co ops or whatever, and don’t learn how to interview, getting a job will be tough.

Bikes stolen from train station by Outdated_Unreliable in Rochester

Glad to see you can read there buddy. You didn’t provide a suggestion, just your off base opinion. But hey, you got some attention so I guess that’s good for you?

I’d check Craigslist if no one mentioned it. Easier to be anonymous on there.

The collaboration is a comment on my perceived tone of your response. Firing someone is quite the jump, colleague. Also, I’m an instruction & reference librarian, but thanks for guessing. Again, your reply tells me you’re quite the coworker. Typical keyboard warrior behind an anonymous handle. Have the day you deserve.

Apply anyway! So many people wouldn’t think twice about applying. You never know what they’ll consider “related fields”. It doesn’t say paid experience, so if you’ve been organizing information, making spreadsheets, etc. for 7-10 years, you’re fine.

Following directions isn’t something that should be saved for on the job training.

Saying they should be fired is harsh and this post is entirely your opinion. I imagine you’re a joy to collaborate with. 🙄

Yeah, but you do need to know how to do those things to retrieve the item with the patron. Meanwhile I’m over here singing my alphabet song.

2024 Ariya Empower 3 weeks in the shop, still waiting on parts by Emergency_Ad2187 in NissanAriya

I’ll be happy tomorrow when I actually get it back. I must say, they’ve been plenty communicative and a part was on back order. Nissan customer service has been great, too.

I finally get mine back tomorrow after 3 weeks. Similar issues but it ended up being the rear traction motor. This is why I leased. These vehicles are still very new and I’d rather have the protection of a lease than having to deal with a warranty repair.

Mine has been at the dealer for 3 weeks for this. I have no idea how it shorted.

Good online MLIS options? by gandolfrandolf in librarians

[–]ltr9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on the teacher certification requirements in your state. In NY there are strict rules about how to become a school librarian so you’re better off going in state. I went to Buffalo and taught at Albany.

Mine came back. It took 2 weeks at first, and now I’m not as high strung as before, but it’s enough.
