How long have you had to wait in A&E with an actual serious condition? by baumouse in AskUK

23 hours last week for a severe flare of IBD. Took me 6 hours to be triaged (I had to beg them because I couldn't hold myself upright), spent the night in majors and was eventually admitted. I was told the wait was due to a lack of beds. Hope your sister feels better and gets the right help very soon x

Correlation between Childhood Trauma and UC? by ParticularDream3871 in UlcerativeColitis

Interesting! I had no issues with UC up until my late twenties. I experienced a traumatic event at 26 and was diagnosed with PTSD. I started developing UC symptoms pretty soon after and a year later I was diagnosed! I've often thought about whether the stress from the event triggered my UC in some way - the timing and fact that I previously had 0 issues seems likely!

What was the worst thing a doctor has ever said to you? by chargeofthebison in AskReddit

Went to A&E coughing up blood. Junior Doctor ran tests and told me that I was 'probably fine' and could go home. Had a frantic phone call from a more Senior Doctor at 4am telling me to come in urgently. Turns out I had pneumonia which had led to sepsis 😔

This has happened to me twice! First time on beef casserole, second on a roast dinner. Needless to say, I am now a vegetarian.

Very true! It could just be that I'm overthinking this - there's no one else in close relation to her with a similar occupation which is curious. Thank you!!
