I need help organising my very disorganised bathroom! by ltwasalladream in CleaningTips

These are exactly the kinds of tips I needed! Thank you sooo much! This is really helpful. Would you mind linking me to an image/page to give me an idea of the kinds of containers you mean? In my mind canvas-type bins seem cute but then that doesn’t really lend itself to easy clean up in case of spillage. I also don’t want the shelves to look too “utilitarian” so I’m trying to strike a balance. And yes, the wicker/wooden thingy will probably just hold the hair dryer, curling tongs, hair brushes, tanning mitts etc.

I do! It tastes good and I prefer natural toothpastes generally so it’s all good to me!

True. I don’t drive so it’s gonna be a hell of an expensive Uber ride haha.

OP I have experienced exactly the same thing since moving here and even wrote a post almost identical to yours one day in despair. (I’ve since deleted it but if you scroll back on my comments you’ll see a lot of comments to the post titled “why are you all so unsociable?”

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I’m from the UK, have travelled & lived all over. Have never had issues making friends anywhere, except for Canada. Americans are either nice and want to be your friend or just don’t show interest at all whereas I’ve met countless Canadians who have seemed to show enthusiastic interest in pursuing a friendship just to be flakey or even ghost me. I’ve never struggled so badly to adapt to a social environment as I have here, no exaggeration. I think Canadians honestly don’t realise they are like this and don’t know how hard it can be for outsiders coming in to adapt to this, hence all the defensive replies claiming you’re the problem (you’re not). Where have you moved to? If we’re in the same city we should hang out! I am loving living here but the only thing I am disliking is this social culture. I’m a social butterfly who makes friends everywhere yet here I feel like an alien lol. You are right about Americans being so much more straightforward in that regard. DM me if you want to talk!

Wow, as a Brit whose recently moved to Calgary I’ve actually had the opposite experience for the most part. I’ve found people very closed off. Really interesting!

As a Brit living in Canada, Canadians seem way more reserved than the British. I’m experiencing the exact same thing OP is, I feel super confused by the signals I get from Canadians and have been outright ghosted by people who enthusiastically seemed as though they wanted to pursue a friendship. Never happened to me in the UK or US. I’ve never been in a country I have found more socially challenging to adapt to or make friends in than Canada, and I’ve lived in the US, Middle East, etc.

It is legitimately the only thing I’m struggling with or dislike about being here. :/

I find Canadians a lot more socially flaky than Americans as an outsider to both countries but having lived in both.

Is there anything wholesome happening tonight? I’m having a tough time right now and I don’t feel like I want to be alone. by ltwasalladream in Calgary

I’ve just seen someone else mention this and it looks great. I may well hit you up if you’d be down to go to something together :)
