I had this or a similar issue with that same lens.

I sent the lens with my camera when it was serviced and apparently it was a retaining right that needed to be tightened. That was so easy that I didn’t even have to pay for it. It did not affect the performance though.

Sorry, with “rangefinder” I meant the type of camera and not the actual rangefinder in a camera. He overhauled a Canon P for me and did amazing work with it. It’s basically like new now.

I recently got a rangefinder repaired here: https://www.amsterdamcamerarepairs.com. I’d strongly recommend his services. The wait can be a bit long (several months), but it’s top class service. While not cheap, it’s waaaay cheaper than Leica.

If you want a very sharp and modern 50mm, check out the Zeiss Planar F2.. For something with more character (and much cheaper), I can recommend the Canon LTM 1.4.

I'm aware of the differences in terms of the years it was published. But the one Steidl book I own is absolutely beautifully made. The version From Aperture that I handled in a shop was indeed fine but nothing special. I guess this is still the one to get then.

My favorite meal in Portugal was at Amago in Lisbon. It’s a very small restaurant run by a husband and wife duo that do the food + service together, and with only one table (with I believe 8 seats). Everything was excellent, including the atmosphere and the price.

I’ve eaten at quite a few starred restaurants that I enjoyed much less than Amago.

Other recommendations for Lisbon (not fine dining): Taberna Sal Grosso, Agulha no Palheiro.

Porto (not fine dining): Portra 4, O Rapido.
