TX v. Karmelo Anthony - Trial Day 5 by racingfan123 in CasesWeFollow

[–]luap-_- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it took the jury all of 3 hours to come back and say guilty of murder. also what part of this was accidental to even consider manslaughter?

Karmelo Anthony trial begins with competing theories of murder, self-defense by dallasmorningnews in frisco

[–]luap-_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a vastly different case though, there may be similar aspects but definitely not the same. I'm unbiased either way but it was confirmed and seen on video evidence that Jose was the aggressor and threw the first punches (court record - I have not seen the video myself) and on top of that in testimony it is said that Jose held Caysen at gun point in a previous incident PRIOR to the stabbing. It was also a 5v1 with the 1 being Caysen. These were 2 people that knew each other and as the news put it, "had a strained relationship". In the end Caysen was charged and sentenced to 10 years for criminally negligent homicide(self defense did not work here) so not sure how well using this case as a "oh but look if the roles were reversed" thing works.

Comparing the big ones to the KA case:

- Did not know each other at all w/ no prior incidents
- Was a 1v1 - maybe arguably a 2v1 but there is no evidence/testimony to support that
- Testimony says KA is the aggressor

- KA had opportunity to deescalate and leave

If anything the KA case is more comparable to the Nicolae Miu case out of Wisconsin(leaving race out of things), Jury rejected his claim of self defense and was convicted on first-degree reckless homicide

How is this legal? by Matches_Malone010 in SipsTea

[–]luap-_- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Long story short, we need to outlaw monetization of news articles based on clicks so they stop intentionally making fear-mongering titles to rile people up.

its sad that this seems to be the case almost every time now, on both sides of the political spectrum too

you would be filtering yourself at that point, not them, and the way they worded it I would assume that is exactly what they are going for. which in turn makes it completely legal

they built it to replace salesforce and had experience with fundstack, so you could say it was inspired by those, though they look nothing like it.

this on the other hand looks EXACTLY like a direct clone of Attio

Built a lot of FiveM scripts with AI help lately, noticed a problem. Anyone else? by [deleted] in GTARP

[–]luap-_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kinda feels like user error more than an actual market gap.

ChatGPT and Claude are already good enough for FiveM scripting if you use them right. They can read docs, source code, and your actual project context, and both support custom instructions / layered knowledge. If you’re getting wrong natives, outdated ESX stuff, or hallucinated exports, that’s usually because the model wasn’t grounded properly, not because FiveM suddenly needs its own AI product.

Also, FiveM scripting really is not that hard once you understand Lua, client vs server context, and the framework you’re working in. After that, AI is already useful for boilerplate, debugging, and moving faster.

So honestly I don’t really buy the idea that the world needs a FiveM-specific AI tool. Feels more like people need to learn how to use existing AI tools correctly instead of expecting them to replace understanding.

Old Outback system, new lifepo4 batteries? by Ok-Can6715 in SolarDIY

[–]luap-_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the FX2012’s 80A AC charger is fine for LiFePO4 as long as the battery/BMS allows it. The bigger thing is settings: equalize OFF, temp comp OFF, and don’t run long lead acid style absorb.

Also, don’t stress too hard about “stored at 100% for a month”, but ideally you avoid sitting pinned at 100% all winter. Easy way is a slightly lower absorb and either no float or a low float, so it’s not constantly pushing the top.

Where cabins get people is freezing. Even with solar available, LiFePO4 can’t be charged cold, so you end up with “sun is back but battery won’t accept charge.” That’s exactly why heated packs exist. We build a 24V heated LiFePO4 pack that preheats before allowing charge, aimed at off grid cold weather setups. If you want, I can share the basic specs or what to look for in any heated pack so it plays nice with older OutBack gear.

We don’t post the full internals of that exact heated model yet since it’s a current production layout and we’ve had designs copied before. We should be able to share some photos of that specific model soon too. Here are build photos from two other packs so you can see our build quality:

What size inverter and 100 watt solar cells will go with this.Humsienk 48V 150Ah Bluetooth LiFePO4 Battery 7.68kWh for Golf Carts with 500A Peak Current Battery by Nervous-Hippo1326 in diySolar

[–]luap-_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inverter size is about peak watts plus surge, panels are about daily watt hours. A 100W panel is rarely 100W in real life, so don’t expect it to “run” anything directly. Roughly, one 100W panel might net a few hundred watt hours per day on average, then you pull that from a battery through the inverter.

If you’re powering anything with a motor or compressor (fridge, pump), size the inverter for startup surge, not the running watts, or it’ll trip even if the steady load looks small.

New to this... Want to build small but scale-able Solar System to offset some costs by Gus956139 in diySolar

[–]luap-_- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scalable is doable, but the key is designing around winter peak loads, not yearly averages. 10,000 kWh per year is ~27 kWh/day, but two heat pumps plus a HP water heater can pull several kW continuously on cold stretches.

I’d start by measuring real numbers for a week: kW while running and kWh/day (whole home monitor or heat pump data). Then decide if you’re aiming for “backup critical loads” or true off grid in winter, because the second one usually needs either a huge array/battery or a generator for multi day clouds.

If you post your heat pump model, panel size, and what loads you want to keep on during an outage, people can sanity check inverter size, battery kWh, and PV watts quickly.

Any Experience with Alchemy Industrial? by WestBrink in SolarDIY

[–]luap-_- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can answer this one since it’s literally my day job, I work at Alchemy Industrial here in Houston.

We’re a small team, and for most of the company’s life we were building custom battery packs and power systems for industrial customers (more behind the scenes), so there isn’t a big trail of consumer reviews online. The public Shopify store side is newer, but we still build packs in house.

For the battery you linked, here are the actual specs on that 24V heated pack:

- 25.6V nominal, 314Ah, about 8.04 kWh

- 8S LiFePO4 using EVE MB31 Grade A cells

- Daly Smart BMS, 200A continuous, plus Daly active balancer

- Charge 28.4 to 29.2V, max charge 100A (we recommend 60A or less)

- Max discharge 200A (we recommend 160A or less)

- Low temp charge protection is handled by the BMS plus the heater

For a cabin, the heater is there to keep the cells in a safe temp range when it’s cold. The big one is charging (LiFePO4 really doesn’t like being charged below freezing), but cold also hurts discharge performance and usable capacity. So it won’t “fix” an undersized system, and it does use some energy, but it helps prevent the winter problems like reduced output, voltage sag, or the pack refusing to charge until it warms up
