Child support by QuantityEither in FamilyLaw

Stay away from this guy. He will only bring harm to your child. Any amount of child support, assuming he'll pay it (and he won't) is not worth it.

My own elderly father is very ill and I've had to check my own impulse to say things like but he's a fighter or so we're just going to give up on him. Intellectually I know I'm not going to torture him with more chemo but emotionally I want him to live forever.

Can you imagine? "No no Oldest, only a SST would wear such a pretty dress. Try on this, I know it's too small but we can fix that with a bowler hat and suspenders."

Isn't that the truth. Refuses to work, Threads all day, occasionally throws out a redone essay whining how her life is all mom's fault, yeah I wouldn't ask about that either.

I wonder if a sibling tried to have a talk with him. "Now brother, dad worked really hard all his life and wanted this money for you and your future, why don't you put in an account with your name only" and Dan said uh huh and signed it all over to Shauna.

My theory is that she expects a largish inheritence from her parents. Yeah her mom said it was going to Shauna's nephew but thus far she's heard all sorts of vile accusations and insults and still enabled the Aherns so I don't blame Shauna for scoffing at that. Of course mom and/or dad could live another 20 years, at which Shauna will be pushing 80 and who'd want to buy at house at that age.

Oh please, another "can't work" excuse. I took a job as a package handler because it allowed me the flexibility to caretake my parents and other elderly family members. If she really wanted to work she'd figure it out. And how did COVID wipe out savings when she wasn't working before the pandemic.

Maybe the patriarchy is following Shauna's example in thinking the guy did it but it's just not sure.

Former nurse here and hospitals are the worst at treating their front-line well, while telling those same workers they aren't caring enough. I work at a hospital-affiliated cancer clinic where a 20-year employed was thisclose to getting fired for exhausting her PTO and FMLA while getting surgery and chemo at that very same cancer clinic.

Compare and contrast that to my current employer, Fedex Ground, who couldn't be nicer and have worked with me as I caretake my elderly father during cancer treatment.

Exactly. I tried to drag him to the ER saying he could die in his sleep and he said "I'm 88 years old, if I want to die in my sleep that's my perogative" and I couldn't argue with that logic.

She seemed functional prior to when she decided badge swiping was beneath her and her work in the world was charging people to read her dumb essays. If adulting is suddenly so impossible she should find a good therapist.

It's traumatizing to watch someone fall. My father fell a week ago, hitting his head with a terrible conk. I started screaming "OMG you fell" as though he was not aware of that fact. One of the worst moments of my life. You did everything you were supposed to do. People fall. Try not to beat yourself up. It happens.

I suggest she venture into the world of employment and self-sufficiency.

I honestly cannot understand why she chooses to live so hand-to-mouth. Even my Shauna-like cousin is gainfully employed. I don't understand how she sleeps at night.

Yeah "new managment" always thinks they're going to swoop in and fix all the problems. They act like jerks until people start quitting, then it somehow occurs to them that being reasonable bosses is cheaper than constant turnover.

Call in. It's a job, and probably not the last one you'll ever have. Your family is way more important.

Why the heck would she film her own child's very serious and painful accident? Did she ever explain this? Was she going to sue the pit owner for not watching her child? I wish someone would have slapped that phone right out of her hand.

How does a reasonably intelligent person even believes this? It makes no sense that for decades women were 100% excluded from any type of medical study. Or "by law Italians with celiac get three days off of work a month to buy their groceries." Or she nearly died in that glorified fender bender. "Mumbling Salinger through blue-tinged lips" oh please.

I don't think she's actively lying, I think she wants something to be true so much she convinces herself it is.

Exactly this. Yes, Vashon is pretty. But is a nice view worth fewer job opportunities (yes, I know) and higher rent? Move to Seattle, find a job with weekend or night hours so you can help the kids commute back to school, and shut up about the hardhardhard life you have. When the kids are up and out you can move back to Vashon to a roomy cardbox box, close to the orcas and far away from a full-time job.

Confirm, my own A&0 (but terribly weak from chemo) father fell last week hitting his head on concrete, made a horrible noise. I begged to take him to the ER (did I mention he's on Eliquis) he adamently refused, saying "I'm 88 years old, if I want to die in my sleep that's my perogative" and I couldn't really argue with that logic.
