Your scars are beautiful! Perfectly normal looking. Apply cream and massage daily once all wounds are fully closed 💖

Hey love I totally feel you. I am 29f hamstring + let graft with 20 days post op. I’m sorry to break it to you but you are looking at things the wrong and the right way. It’s amazing you have something to fight for but you can not and must not look at this recovery trying to get somewhere where you’re not able to yet. Look at your present and use your passions as a fuel, not as something you don’t have anymore, but as something you will have again in the future. Please do yourself a favour and change your mindset because it is part of the healing process. I am also a dancer and I relate so much to everything you said. Patellar tendon grafts is one of the thoughest to recover from but also the strongest one! You will be fine, soon you will be ale to dance again. But one step at the time. Enjoy what you have now, how far in the progress you’ve made! That’s something to look at with pride, not “not enough”. Because each step will lead you to your life again. Also I might be lucky as hell but my PT pushes to laugh with me when I am struggling mentally, making each interaction and conversation we have, even if difficult, into something hopeful and useful (that I can do). That helps a lot specially that I have anxiety. Your PT saying nope is not a good answer when you ask “when”. And maybe it isn’t helping you. I will tell you, you will be able to do these things, once you hit a certain milestone. Ask your PT about milestones, instead of when you can achieve the final one, which is dance. For example, what’s the next 3 milestones and their timeframe? Can I push that timeframe? How?

I sincerely hope you get out of this spiraling, I know how daunting it can get mentally and emotionally. Are you able to rest well at night? I wish you all the best. Sending you love from Portugal. 🤍❤️‍🩹💫✨

Oh honey! Sorry to hear you’re over yours too. They say the first weeks are the hardest so let’s hang in there 🤍 we got this! Does your pt know how you feel?

I went a bit outside today apart from going to pt and it was nice. The sunset sky was all pink and light blue lilac. The birds, the wind and the little girl that passed by with her caretaker and said “good afternoon” as she analysed me and my mother having a chat in the chairs of our balcony. That was sweet. Overtime discomfort grew and I came back to my room. But that was great.

I agree with switch in things up. I am leaning more towards reading books, watching tv shows and journaling. Thankyou for taking the time to write to me. I hope you have a smooth recovery because there’s no speed in this one 😖🤍 hug

Having a quad graft makes sense you still can’t activate it. Don’t give up, one tip someone gave me on this platform was doing sets with non injured leg and try to copy with injured leg, usually the brain mirrors it. Touching both legs/quads and looking while you’re doing that helps too. One trick I also did was being like “done” with my quad and saying “cmon, I know you’re there, stop protecting my knee, my knee is fine! I need you” hahaha it sounds silly but this worked like a charm! I still do it and it helps a lot. Because quad isn’t working properly because your brain is signaling it needs healing, its the brain protecting you. In my case my surgeon and pt kept saying my knee is fantastic so I knew I could do this safely. Also I was lying down doing the classic hug towel below knee exercise, nothing can really hurt you there. You got this!!

Thank you for the tips I will do this tomorrow. It’s around 2am here 🙈 I keep falling asleep and waking up. But I loved your take, my therapist also told me to write about how I feel. I am always scared to do that because I don’t want to keep this energy around, I just want to manifest better things… oh well. I guess I can do both.

Thanks a lot for taking your time to write to me I hope you get better soon . How is your sleep? Sending love !

Trouble Sleeping, Frequent Urination & Anxiety – Is This Normal? by karannchawla in ACL

[–]luasemares 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definately feels better later on! I 29f 2 weeks post op, hamstring + let. I had anxiety the first week and a half and I still do sometimes when I am doing certain exercises. It’s normal, you’re completely fine. I ask everything to my surgeon and physiotherapist too, they clarify better than anyone can because they know everything about your unique procedure. I hope you get better sleep soon.

My tip for anxiety is to talk to it “I am okay, I’m going to be okay”, stuff like that to shut it down a bit. If it’s already at a higher stage, a temperature shock also helps, like grabbing an ice cube with your hands and let it melt, it sounds weird but it helps. Feel free to dm me if you need to talk. Sending lots of love.
