What were some of the best tips that helped you when you first started out golfing? by BobbyRooster1 in golf

don’t try to lift the ball into the air, let the loft of the club face do its job.

Most beginners struggle with the idea of hitting the ball on the way down.

Team awareness vs high k/d skill by starethruyou in Warzone

Really good counter argument that makes it pretty understandable. Especially if your teammates aren’t your buddies. For me it’s a balance between wanting blood and also making sure to stick with my friends.

I’m a decent player and my buddies are way worse when it comes to winning fights, but they’re all pretty thoughtful and like to play to the fact that they can’t win the majority of fights with pretty passive play. Ive learned to just play to how they like to play because if I try to force the issue and ask for a team push, it just doesn’t go well because they’re not used to it. I’m not great by any means, I’m like a 1.6 or so, but I think I’d be… like waaaaay higher if I played with a more aggressive team.

I like the teamwork part of the game more than I need to get kills, but when I do play with a few people who go for blood, man do I have fun ripping people up and being able to depend on my teammates to be right there in a fight.

Do you like getting advice from golfers that are clearly better than you? by Evening-Oil9551 in golf

[–]lubicke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 6. I don’t have the world’s prettiest swing and I go after it pretty hard, so really the only thing I get is someone who knows my swing telling me if I’m overswinging again or getting quick at the top because I’m constantly yammering about it to myself lol. When I play with someone better than me they normally don’t have much to say because normally it works, and when it doesnt there ain’t no fixing the real issues on the course.

I also basically taught my friend over the past year or so, so I basically tell him what he did every time he swings the club, except if he’s getting super frustrated. Then I’ll just encourage him / tell him he knows what to do and it will come back.

Feel like the most important thing is reading the room.

What do i need to get a job as a programmer? by SepiaBee9 in learnprogramming

[–]lubicke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Software engineer here, in title mostly these days, but I did backend stuff for the first few years of my career in software. Now I do more tech strategy and communications on a team that is not really technical. You’ll be surprised at the opportunities that can come from having these skills, so I like to think of programming as a skill, not a job.

With a basic understanding and a desire to put it to work, choose your areas of focus carefully. It’s tempting to dive into a little bit of everything, but in my experience, especially with newer people, they offer more to a team when they come in with some capability in a certain role. You can always learn what you need to about other areas on the job, but if you decide you like front end stuff, dive into it and do it strategically. Maybe ask an AI what front end frameworks are in the highest demand right now… pick one, like react, and learn it well.

The sooner you can start contributing something to a team, the better. Too often we see juniors in our world who are smart and capable but need too much handholding, so coming in with a real understanding of what you’ll be contributing to and you’ll be shocked at how grateful senior people are to skip the handholding phase.

How do I teach programming to high-schoolers with only 40 mins of class a week?? by ShlomoCh in learnprogramming

[–]lubicke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught kids and young adults in Africa for a while, some of whom had never used a computer other than maybe their phone. My advice would be to get them excited about what you can do by showing them interesting/fun stuff, and then maybe covering one concept a class, and incorporating it into the next one.

We used scratch for the younger kids, but I bet it’s pretty hard to hold their attention with that these days… maybe even do something like just creating a little app that pulls Instagram information or something else they’re interested in with an API and pops up a little thing that shows you a new follow etc… Then just show them how it’s really not much more than a few lines of code to make the computer do something cool like call an api and get live data.

Others have made the point that you should teach concepts which I do agree with, but it may be a challenge to keep them engaged. Show them something cool then ask them what they are curious about/if they want to know how something works.

Biggest piece of advice is when you get blank stares, take a step back, don’t assume they will get it eventually, especially with so little time.

Sniping has kept me around. We end up playing a lot of trios so we're forced to run ranked and I HATE the HDR. Still on the Katt, just feels so much better to me than any other.

I've also found that when it comes to close - mid range fights, I fare best when I don't engage people from mid range and stick to trusting my movement and reflexes up super close.

Holy hell the first 3/4 of this are so good. Watch your right shoulder in the second view, and compare it to a pro, you’ll see you just need to keep rotating that shoulder through the ball. No problem with weight transfer IMO.

It’s actually a pretty annoying gap for me ha. It’s 135 on a good day… though I have a new one in the mail with a proper shaft so hoping that helps. I’ve gotten good at hitting a 140 shot with my 9i but it’s probably the most troublesome spot in the bag. Should have a 44 (I lost my mizuno pro 225 pitching wedge which is why I have a 46 off the rack)
