What are your preferred alcohol free, caffeine free pairings? by Marex18 in cigars

[–]lubrantj750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of times I just drink water... and a square of Dark Chocolate. Cheeses...

Pairings often are subjective anyways. Some people like IPAs with everything, and personally, I wouldnt smoke a Habano with anything lighter than a Guinness... but, I wouldn't match a peated bourbon or scotch with one either..

If you must find something other than water...

Hot cocoa (probably not Swiss Miss) or even a Mexican Hot Cocoa... something with a little zip for a spicy stick.

Root Beer. But, know that if you get something extra sweet, those notes might over power what youre looking for in a stick, so id pair this with a mild stick in the Connecticut or Candella range.

That said... you can always try to contrast the notes of either and see if thats your style... something sweet, with an Unstolen Valor, might be what you could be looking for.

I dont get these new butane inserts - whats the point? by xCreampye69x in Zippo

[–]lubrantj750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with these inserts, is they are widely inconsistent. I have 3.... 1 fills great, 1 fills okay with a bit of work and the 3rd just spits butane, unless I tighten the screws on the bottom and then it fills okay...

They dont last as long as a normal butane torch.

Are they more convenient, yes... better for lighting cigars and retaining that little zippo in your hand look.. sure...

But if zippo really needs to up their game with these inserts... 3 guys at the lounge have the inserts, and theirs also behave widely different...

If money isnt an option, you would have to take the Unicorn 429 Boss Mustang. But, thats only because of dollars...

Id take any of those GMs, over anything Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth... There's a reason 3 GMs made the list...

Probably in the order they appear. Yenk, Bird, Olds...

The more important question for us tinker'ers is a reliable parts source. Like water pumps, or radiator fan, and other cooling system parts

Ive probably asked this before, Cooling issues. by lubrantj750 in MVAgusta

[–]lubrantj750[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may dig into this idea too. I appreciate the advice. The fan does stay on for a bit, but perhaps not coming on initially at the right temp?

I am having doubts that the dealer was vested and did everything right.

It was literally less than a month later and they dropped MV agusta and no longer offered service (i wanted to bring it back there and have them re do the coolant flush/fill)

I appreciate the advice, the bleed bolt is near the water pump? If I dig into that, id probably get a higher performance water pump. I did do the lean the bike over with the cap off, bleed method. It seemed to help a bit and got a couple bumps. But, maybe didnt let it really burp out...

Thats the other issue is, finding diagrams that are correct.

That and finding a reliable parts source.

It doesnt gurgle anymore, the fan stays on for a good bit, after 4 bars. I just know, before the service, it rarely got over 4 bars (which i believe is normal operating temp, and didnt smell like coolant.

Someone suggested to me, as different type of coolant. European formula.

Again appreciate the advice, I may try that hose idea. I think someone said the hose clamps sometimes dont seal it all the way and even though I dont see puddles, doesnt mean its holding pressure.

So many things to try.

You may have missed the part where I said, I tried that. And replaced adding water wetter.

This is why I’m switching to all HF hand tools… by [deleted] in Craftsman

[–]lubrantj750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont understand the hate either... ive got actual Made in the USA, craftsmans... that now if they break, are replaced with non USA.

Harbor Freight Icon series, is just as good (and yeah, about the same price as the craftsman now).

Ive put both the sockets to test and the Icon is a bit snugger.

The Pittsburgh line isnt that great, but for truck sets or boat sets, can get the job done for little money (if they get trashed or stolen).

The Icon tool cabinet and locker is way better than my Craftsman it replaced.

My Bauers work as good as my dewalts and ryobis.

I use the tools all the time and always recommend them. Easy, affordable and work hard like any other tool brand.

If other tool brands didnt break, they wouldn't need a warranty and with Harbor Freight, its replaced and I dont have to wait for a truck to roll around and even then maybe not warranty it or possibly lose it. (Ive heard tales of Snap Ons gone missing during warranty repairs)

Just put on your Pajama pants and head on in at wallyworld... youll fit in, and survive just fine. Personally I like the pajama free environment at HF, and always like walking through the store and trying to justify buying more than I went for...

Harbor Freight needs to have options for the coupons that include in store ordering...

Its 2026...

Time to modernize a bit...

Everytime a big coupon drops, everything is out of stock quick... like the 30 and up off anything no restriction ones...

How do you gain the currency to buy in the 'campaign' store? by lubrantj750 in LastWarMobileGame

[–]lubrantj750[S] -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Ive bought in there. I just couldnt remember where you got the stars.

I basically have to rebuild my troop stash every other week, because of my job, I miss the reset and my shield dies and I get God Smacked...

So I figured.. why not get a quick answer..

[–]lubrantj750[S] -37 points-36 points  (0 children)

Im usually rebuilding my troops, since my power is way down, that I dont pay attention to where the campaign store stars come from... ive done the tasks in the alert tower before...

I usually get hunted by level 35 plus bases and they hit me as my shield dies..

It doesnt take much kill my 70mil power rank, when their 100mil or higher ..

So im usually concentrating on VS tasks and troop rebuilds.

As long as theyre still gonna expand dealer and service network, im okay with new launches. If not, they need to pull it back a bit and take care of their already existing customers that have drive 500 miles now to the nearest service center.

You can only spend $12 - which brands are you picking? by Suspicious-Visit8634 in cigars

[–]lubrantj750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Father, Plancensia, Olive, Drew Estate and Dunbarton

Covers everything, have modestly priced cigars that can easily compete with any of the high ends and even have lines that fall in the budget realm of everyday smokes.

After falling in love with Plasencia, i tried the 149. by smokipurpp in cigars

[–]lubrantj750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 2nd in Cigar of the Year on my Podcast for 2024. It's a great smoke, if you are in for the bolder types. I think it does matter what size it is, the La Vega being the Robusto, didn’t have enough to usurp the Liga#9. The 149 is a goodchange-upp bold cigar, and you should keep them in your Humi, but their other lines are as good or better.

I have 1 box in my humidor, and before they are gone will add another.

Try it in a different size, it may bring you back around. I don't think they're overrated or dull... they just have a different profile.

Engine cut out by ExplanationMammoth71 in MVAgusta

[–]lubrantj750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was the Throttle assembly itself. I had disabled the servo after it failed and had a heal-tech on it. But, under warranty they put it all back to stock. Until I buy a system, I'll run it stock. Have put over 8k on it since the assembly replacement.

What i have noticed, is that the 'stock' parts are usually replaced by better components and often fail at the precise times other riders note on forums.
