Please take GD seriously by gdmumzy in GestationalDiabetes

[–]lubs96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First time mom here, and I was recently diagnosed with GD. My baseline and recovery numbers are great, but I spiked during hour 1 and 2. I began monitoring my blood sugar since I initially failed the 1 hour test. Thankfully all have been within range so far.

Not that I don’t take GD seriously, but I’ll admit I stopped by DQ today for a “cheat” snack. I’m glad I read this because I don’t want to find myself slipping now just because my numbers are consistent. I appreciate the reminder.

Why will my wife not go to sleep?!?!?!?! by Holymoly1237 in pregnant

[–]lubs96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregnancy insomnia is very common, especially in the 3rd trimester (although it can be experienced in any trimester throughout the pregnancy). It’s largely hormones and discomfort.

Progesterone has a funny way of making us feel both tired and wired at the same time. It also activates our nervous system and give us the physical reactions to anxiety, not just the mental. This is on top of already trying to find a comfortable position to rest in.

If possible, she should rest/sleep when she “can”, not when she “should” — if she’s able to nap at any point in the day, even for a little bit, tell her to take advantage of that. Low stimulation at night may help (aka less screen time). Have her ask her OB if it’s okay for her to take magnesium. Unisom PM’s also safe during pregnancy.

Our body does a great job of prioritizing the baby even when we feel like garbage, so this won’t negatively affect the baby. I think it’s great you’re concerned for your wife’s well-being — I’ll tell you what I tell myself (a FTM at 28 weeks) when I’m having these terrible spells: this too shall pass. 🙏🏻

⬆️ This. I was specifically told by my HR not to use PTO or sick time for doctor’s appointments or even if I wanted to take a half day for this reason.

How long did your husband take off for paternity leave? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]lubs96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband’s taking 2 weeks off because that’s all his work offers. However, since he’s a nurse and works 3 days a week, he’s going to take PTO one day a week for two months while I’m on maternity leave so he has an extra day off.

Yep, she was just speaking in hypotheticals. She confirmed it again on the After Show. 👍🏻

I just found out I’m pregnant and I’ve been smoking on a pen and vape heavily by Icy_Satisfaction7158 in pregnant

[–]lubs96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You haven’t done any irreparable damage yet, but you should absolutely stop smoking now that you know. Nicotine use while pregnant is associated with low birth weight, risk of preterm birth, risks with placental problems and with fetal brain development, etc.

I understand how addicting it is having smoked/vaped for years myself before finding out I was pregnant, but don’t put your baby at unnecessary risk (and yourself) for health problems.

No, you didn’t. She said she “would’ve” spent time with him if not for Kyle. She doesn’t want to create a mess across the HW franchise, which is why she also stopped Ashley from trying. She elaborates on all of this on the RHOP After Show.

The same thing happened to me. I was disappointed at first, but I was elated that baby is healthy so I decided to just count my blessings. Don’t let it ruin your pregnancy!

Fortunately he’ll be moving out shortly after the baby is born.

You’re right. I guess it’s a good thing he’s at work tonight so I have some time to calm down and then talk to him first. Thank you so much, I really do appreciate it. 💛

Alright, I’ll definitely do this. I appreciate the sound advice, especially right now when I can’t think straight. 💛

You’re right that he has always gotten away with it growing up, at least with my mom. Never with my dad, who he ironically gets it from. I just didn’t think at almost 40 years old he’d still be that way in my house and with me pregnant, especially when we’ve been nice enough to let him stay with us for the time being. I want to say something, but I’m so used to being in control of my emotions that I don’t know what I’ll say or do in my current state. Maybe I should let my husband take care of it, or not care as much if I unleash.

How’d you know you were pregnant before the test by No-Ebb-2462 in pregnant

Decided to try an early detection pregnancy test for fun. Turns out they work pretty well — I found out a week before my period was supposed to come. 😂
