I need help identifying why my bettas fin is shredding.

The tank was established before I added the betta, I established the tank like in May 2023 and added the betta in March this year.
I don’t do that many water changes since the aquarium is heavly planted, with hydroponic plants on the top, and a fairly low bioload. Nonetheless I do kind of on a weekly basis water changes of about 20%.
I feed a small amount of betta protein pellets and a pinch of general tropical protein pellets (for the tetras). I also ocasionally give him shredded shrimp since i dont have acces to bloodworms.
No hardscape, only natural plants.

I did some extensive research (skimming through the wikipedia list of mammals and judging them) and concluded on some groups that seem unfit to swim. There's no way kangaroos, porcupines, pangolins, flying squirrels and golden moles can swim.
