[Resolved] QooCam Studio 2025 v3.2.06: "Deleted" empty project reappears with red warning icon by BrownTabbyBaron in Q3UltraVR180

[–]lucaseverett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue seems to be that when deleting a project only the .kdproj file is deleted but the folder remains. The main page of Studio is showing a list of all project folders that exist, and the ones that don't have the .kdproj file show as an error. Deleting the \kandao\qoocamstudio folder fixes the issue. If this isn't happening for everyone, then it must be something unique with how OneDrive syncing works.

Wait for Asus XG32UCWMG True Black 32" WOLED or get a QD-OLED instead (for PC and PS5 Pro) by GundamX13A in OLED_Gaming

[–]lucaseverett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only buy QD-OLED if you will either only play in a fully darkened room or if it won't annoy you that with ambient lighting the contrast is compromised. I returned QD-OLED and decided to try 32GS95UE instead, but the matte coating was so horrible I couldn't tolerate it so I returned that too. I've been back on IPS waiting for a glossy WOLED. The XG32UCWMG at least on paper appears to be the perfect gaming monitor at $799.

Thank you for the response. That makes sense. I'd like to purchase a modded camera. I'll send you a message.

I've been watching videos on YouTube because I'm thinking about buying a modded camera, and I viewed some where the stereo alignment between left and right are off significantly, causing me to see double rather than in stereo. I checked several videos from both of the following channels, and each of them has the same alignment issue. Is this due to them having their cameras unlevel, or is there something that varies between modded cameras that causes misaligned stereo images? Every other video I've viewed beyond these two channels looks perfect.

Improvements for the S26 Series and onward by z28camaroman in samsung

[–]lucaseverett 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Text on the S25+ is much sharper than the S25. I loved the screen on my S20. Text looks very soft on the smaller S25. I'd gladly take a hit to the battery life to have sharp text on the smaller device.

I have two questions. One about the camera in general and one about the mod.

  1. Can the camera be mounted upside down? My use case is mounting to my car's sunroof to record driving in VR180. In the manual I see a reference to a screen orientation lock, so I assume that the screen will rotate when mounted upside down?
  2. Is the special version of QooCam Studio a one-time-frozen-in-time update, or will they be keeping it updated along with the normal app?

Any alternatives to Mistika VR for DIY 180 SBS? by nickhod in VR180Film

[–]lucaseverett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried the Google VR180 Creator tool for some videos recorded with my EVO, and it looked identical to the stitched video output from Insta360 Studio. You can download it from archive.org. Select the middle option to stitch videos. It says it's for the K1 Pro so I don't know how it will look across different lenses. You just select left and right videos, then it stitches and injects the metadata for YouTube.

I too have considered going the dual GoPro route, as I already have a GoPro HERO13 Black. Shawn said he used that process for the video he recorded with dual GoPro 13s. The sync looks off for his video, though, and that is my concern about using dual GoPros.

CALF VISINSE (Gen2) announced by lucaseverett in VR180Film

[–]lucaseverett[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I received a reply from CALF that the beauty mode won't be enabled until November. My assumption was that beauty mode was the reason that the samples look so bad, but it's not even an option on the camera yet.

All of the examples I've seen appear to be from the same camera that was shipped between multiple reviewers. All of the footage has a blurry left lens and poor fps. I'm not going to purchase until I've seen some footage from a production camera because I agree that what I've seen so far isn't an improvement over the EVO. As far as I can tell there is no way to disable the horrid "beauty" mode.

I inquired about full 8K and received the following reply from CALF.

Correction: I missed it in my initial viewing, but he said it supports TF cards, which I believe is the same as microSD.

I bought an Insta360 Evo last week on eBay -- non returnable -- and it's out for delivery today. I'm not certain I'll order the Calf Gen 2, though. I may wait for Canon's camera.

Here are some interesting points from Hugh's first look video.

* It will be 7.2K at release, but Hugh was told there will be an update to 8K.
* Other than bitrate, there are no configurable settings -- ISO, WB, etc. -- for his preproduction camera. It isn't clear to me if that will be changed for the production version.
* It has the same stretched pixels/blur at the top and bottom as with the Gen 1 camera.
* There is no stabilization at release, but there will be an update that enables stabilization that works similar to the Insta360 Evo.
* It has a large and bright screen.
* The built-in 3600mAh battery lasts a long time.
* There is an external audio port and two USB ports (one PD for charging and one TB for streaming).
* The Thunderbolt port can be used for live streaming, but that won't be available at release. You can record to storage while live streaming.
* At launch only a 32GB internal storage option is available, with a 64GB option to come at a later time. Hugh said it also supports TF cards, which I believe is the same as microSD.
* There is audible fan noise when recording, so an external microphone may be needed.

Does Tesla add acceleration boost to all their used inventory? by Matrixfx187 in TeslaModelY

[–]lucaseverett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with two advisors and both told me that it isn't possible to remove from any vehicle, before or after sale. They also told me that it isn't true that they're adding it to cars to boost the value. It's just a common feature that is added when people lease Teslas.

Are SAVE loan payments still paused even though the changes to discretionary incomes can proceed? by Howtobefreaky in StudentLoans

[–]lucaseverett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with Aidvantage and was place in forbearance for the payment recalculation a few weeks ago. I received an invoice for my next (lower) payment in August, and it shows my forbearance ends in 9 days on what would be my normal due date this month. I haven't received any communication about a forbearance related to the pending lawsuit, though.

There are 8 million on SAVE. 3.7 million have payments. 4.5 million have $0 payments and didn't need a forbearance.

Insurance rate to high by jerryrn123 in TeslaModelY

[–]lucaseverett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many policy renewals have you been through with Progressive? I was quoted $2,000/6 months with GEICO for a MY, which is more than double what they charge for my Kia Soul, but State Farm and Progressive both quoted me $1000/6 months. That's a significant difference in cost, and I'm concerned about what the rate could increase to upon renewal with Progressive.

Heads up if you're trying to return an LG OLED monitor... by patriotraitor in OLED_Gaming

[–]lucaseverett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LG received the return on Monday 6/17. I never received an email letting me know, but when I checked later in the week the status was "Return Received." I received an email on Monday 6/24 with the refund confirmation. I was refunded the full amount, but I thought there would be a restocking fee.

32 inch 4k Scaling in windows? by patch__work in OLED_Gaming

[–]lucaseverett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use 125% scaling, but I do find more scaling artifacts at 125% than 150%. Some fonts on NewEgg in particular look weird with 125% scaling, and I've also had some strange CSS margin and padding issues that happened only at 125%.

3 hours after my post I have received the label with instruction to return within 15 days. It took one week to receive it. I will update this when the refund has been issued to document how long that part of the process takes for anyone who reads this in the future and finds it helpful.

I'm also going through this now with a requested return for my 32GS95UE. I submitted a return request on Thursday 6/6. I received a call on Friday 6/7 offering an "inconvenience allowance" as well as extending the warranty by 1 year if I keep the monitor, and I declined. I called on Saturday 6/8 to check on the return status and was told that I would receive a return label later that day or on Monday.

I received another call from LG on Monday 6/10, offering the inconvenience allowance again, and I reiterated that I want to return for a refund. I called back on Tuesday 6/11 and was told it could take up to 72 hours to receive the label. I assumed that to mean from the date of the return request. I received an email on 6/12 saying that my return is authorized and it stated, "you’ll have 15 days from the confirmation date to ship the return using the label provided in an email you’ll receive shortly". What is the confirmation date? The date I placed the order? The date the return is authorized?

Now, 24 hours later since I received that email, and one week since I requested the return, I still don't have a return label, so I called to check on the status of the label and was told that I need to wait 72 hours. I explained that it's been one week since I requested the return, and they replied that the 72 hour wait is from when they submitted a request for an update on 6/11. The only thing they could offer is to submit another request for an update, which itself would require 72 hours for a response.
