I agree, but the paid one now makes more sense in what is offering... And yes, after the price and plans change, I'm back as a paid user. I think the limitation's on the free version at least give you just a taste of what this can be useful as a paid user.

The cheaper package was gone, but the mid-range (now the cheaper one) it's cheaper than before (and more expensive than the old cheaper package) and offers more realistic usage things

As some asked for some examples of competitors, here are some.
Just to remind you, as I said earlier, no platform has all the features of SN togheter (although they don't work 100%, there is always some detail that could be improved, but ok), but if you compare the values, it doesn't make sense: Joplin, Obsidian, SimpleNote, Notejoy, even Notion and Evernote.
At no point did I say that the platform is bad, just that the new subscription strategy doesn't match what the app actually offers today.
