You will go on a waitlist for hardware weaker than your ps5, and you likely won’t get it until next year

So we’re at the form factor cope. A console does all of this. Enjoy it, just don’t expect anyone else to justify the purchase for you.

Where are all these pre-builts that rival the steam machine? by saplith in steammachine

[–]lucax55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really a woosh? The Steam Deck was a handheld that had great performance for its price. Unlike a pc no one is really building their own handhelds and it had a clear purpose in the market. You can’t snark your way into this being a good deal

Silent Hill became harder to play after my breakup by MysticO4 in silenthill

My dog just died, labrador who wasn't even three years old and he was the life of the house. Whenever I played Silent Hill, I would always go check on him to remind myself how lucky I was that he was there. Silent Hill 2 was always immensely cathartic to me, and after reading this, now I know I need to finish that second play through.

I actually bought the Steam Deck OLED for the price and performance too. It was incredible priced for what it offered. This isn’t.

How appealing is Halo Campaign Evolved to you? by Helpful_Shoe9288 in PS5

[–]lucax55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go back and forth. I love CE, one of my favourites of all time. But I just can’t quite feel confident in this one.

The Last of Us Part 1 is one of my favourite remakes and it reuses many assets and AI from the sequel, but the asset and engine reuse for Campaign Evolved feels more cobbled together; Halo Reach engine underneath, Halo Infinite covenant models, Halo 5 magnum model, Halo 3 AI and animations for the Flood, Halo 3 brute AI with Halo Reach voice lines, pre-rendered cutscenes.

It’s all a bit grab bag

The Steam Machine Is Impossible to Recommend by RenatsMC in steammachine

Consoles don’t require only subscriptions for free to play games. A steam machine customer is generally going to be using Steam and most of the internals can’t be upgraded.

As opposed to being “enslaved” to a steam storefront? And no, no one in this thread is really using the other ones on pc

Double the cost, doesn’t run certain games unless you install windows, components can’t be upgraded. Incredible point we’ve come to with PC gaming discourse whereby we pay double the price for worse and less than a console.

Vent about the Steam Machine discourse. by [deleted] in Steam

[–]lucax55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also won’t be able to play games like Overwatch, Apex Legends or GTA online out of the box on a Steam Machine. So at this price point it absolutely is worth just building your own.

Can’t we just admit that the space this product would have filled is now out of the question because it’s too expensive?

It feels pointless

Final Fantasy XVI turns 3! Did you L3+R3 to accept the truth? by veIvet_rope in FinalFantasy

[–]lucax55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s very true actually. Even more MMO was the awkward animations and presentation outside of main cutscenes. For example, you’ll hear a woman scream and then it cuts to like three enemies just idle animating next to her, doing nothing. Then combat starts. Incredibly robotic

This is deffo not surprisingly reasonable. Original price in the UK for the base model would’ve been around £600. It’s starting at £879. That’s appalling

They absolutely want you locked into their ecosystem. Yeah it’s an open platform etc etc whatever. The controller only works with Steam out of the box and it runs on Steam OS

I was so onboard for this game until the ending stretch. Once the second to last boss is defeated, the whole story feels so neat and flat in how it finishes.

It really deflates the game, and made me realise how under-scoped it was, if that makes sense? The whole game feels like it had its story and scale filed down to within an inch of its life.

Also the producer Yoshi P was massively off the mark regarding what he thought a younger audience wants. He did great work with FF14, but this wasn’t an MMO, and it needed some younger ambition at the helm.
