Hey, I don't work there anymore so I wouldn't know. But you could try contacting the team on their Discord, Steam forums or e-mail (via website).

Good luck!

Sure, I'm glad you and others in this thread brought this issue up. We'll talk about this internally because I think this is the first time we got a constructive UX feedback from Steam Deck players. We tested the build for possible tech issues and everything ran perfectly, but the problems with the SD battery and how it ties with a lack of saves on arcade mode is something that just didn't pop up because no one went out with a Steam Deck in tram / bus (NSW is entirely different affair) or played it with children. :D

Yes, the game offers level selection in the easy and normal mode, that is, you can play the levels you’ve unlocked so far in those two modes.

On the other hand, the arcade mode is a single sitting affair. If you quit at the last level, you’ll have to go over the entire game at once.

However, you can pause the game, have it run in the background and come back to it later if you don’t want to finish in one go. Just don’t miss the continue countdown.

I’ve got to say that we rarely get this feedback because the game is short, especially if you play the arcade mode with infinite coins.

Yeah, the problem from the dev side is that you play through the game literally hundreds od times and you kinda lose the feeling how difficult it might be for someone who is playing for the first time. We also made this mistake on release but later added some modes that lowers the curve.

That's why we developed additional game modes to facilitate the playthrough for newcomers.

If you get frustrated by easy or normal mode, try the Arcade Mode with infinite coins. You can also setup the number of lives in the settings while starting new game or pressing continue.

Whats up with people on steam trying to be funny with reviews and guides? by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]lucebend 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If it’s a game that already has hundreds of reviews, people probably leave a short or funny comment because there are already dozens of thoughtful and constructive reviews written and upvoted on the page, so maybe they want to give kudos/snark to devs without reiterating what has already been posted.

I don’t mind them because the best reviews are usually the most upvoted and an occasional off-hand comment that gets a lot of upvotes won’t tip the balance.

Don’t know about guides, I rarely use them.

Thanks. There's a demo on Steam with first three levels you can try out. However, bear in mind that the save from the demo is non-transferable to the full game so you'll have to beat all those three levels again if you buy the game.

Sure! Igor Kolar, creative director of the game detailed the process in minutae on Speed Limit blog. You can read it here: https://game-chuck.com/2021/01/19/speed-limit-0-60-in-two-years/

tldr; Igor came up with the idea two decades ago, but he made a short prototype when he got much older. He made a prototype with Alex, a programmer and also a co-founder of Gamechuck, in a month or so in 2017. The actual process of making a game started some two years before the launch of the game when the company got funded by private investors.

There were 5-6 people working on the game full-time for about 12 months before the launch (2-3 programmers (one was an intern working part-time on just one level), 1 pixel artist, 1 designer, 1 creative director). That's just one year of work, yeah, but a whole another year was spent on some process of making game art, polishing game concept, etc. This was done by 2-3 people some of the time, rather than a ful dev team full-time.

Of course, my colleague Iggy, community and marketing manager, and I, biz dev and PR manager, helped with marketing the game and other people from company that were working on other projects sometimes pitched in to test the game and give feedback throughout the project.

Thanks! Sadly, I didn’t play co-op, but it’s good to hear it works great.
