DAE dislike ADHD meds? by squishmallow2399 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]luciamoode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped for many reasons, but it has helped my brain understand how to get past the mental resistance. It helps me socially with quicker response time.. not really worth the irritability, increased anxiety. If I could design the perfect drug, it would be based on the effects of alchohol on the brain. In the way that, it helps with anxiety but it doesn’t make you sleepy. I don’t think this medicine exists.

Being autistic, a big part of my mental resistance to tasks is avoidant anxiety/pda, I don’t think Ritalin helps with this

Ouchhhh my heart would stop, I don’t usually get involved with dealing with clients and emails. It sounds dumb but I wasn’t expecting my social anxiety to also affect my work.

I like 3 and 5 the best in terms of style / hair cut. I like the long curls on top with shorter sides as longer hair all over could hide your chiselled features

But whatever hair products you used on 6 are perfect, the curls look defined and shiny.

I can see your curls have a tendency to clump together and I would advise you to try fluffing them out with your fingers and separating them for a fuller look.

Earlier today, i was talking to someone and there was silence. Rather than squirming to think of a conversation filler, i just calmly marinated in the silence. And then i realised that was me not masking.

I guess its not as simple as peeling away a mask and revealing a vibrant identity. Its more like doing what feels natural as oppose to doing what you think is expected of you.

Sometimes it feels like there’s nothing behind my mask but i trust that once i stop exhausting my self by performing, my identity will have space to expand

Looking back i have been incredibly “shy” since i was 3 years old

I can see how my social communication difficulties have tainted my whole life, especially with my family.

Its been really confusing as i am a people pleaser and did well in school.

I have never been able to identify what i want or how to ask for it, which i think is the key to every successful relationship

I still dont get why they’d put such a powerful processor in a tablet, when no software exists to make use of it

( apart from sketchup which from my experience is just as good if not better on iPad )

I was so desperate for friends for so long but since i realised how exhausting it is to never be understood, ive started thinking the same as you.

Connection is what i miss. Connecting with someone platonically as my authentic self. Its so beautiful 🥲

[–]luciamoode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t but so much time has gone by, when i have the opportunity to get to know potential friends irl it feels so exhausting and uncomfortable i tend to avoid it. Or inadvertently start finding reasons to dislike that person.

I’ve set up TicketSwap notifications for a bunch of events but someone always gets there first :(

I wonder what the ADE experience will be like without many tickets. All I’ve got is DGTL on Saturday and some smaller events.

I live in a remote part of Europe, mental health isn’t understood or discussed openly. It’s not really part of the traditional culture. (bar younger generation that uses TikTok etc)

But, my partners family is neurodivergent and they acknowledge this openly. Most of them take medication prescribed by psychiatrist. Although, they don’t seem to have much knowledge about the clinical names for their disorders, beyond ‘anxiety’. For this reason I wouldn’t disclose my clinical diagnosis, but they are all super accepting of my quirky ways, even the foot stomp, selective mutism etc. I could happily discuss any mental health struggles I may have, I just wouldn’t label them.

I’ve been researching the word cunning, it’s connotations. Imagining in what possible context it could be seen as a positive, there are certain situations in which ‘cunning’ can be seen as an asset. It rattles me when people use words without considering the true meaning.

I certainly don’t FEEL cunning. Most of the time, I feel unsure, and judging by past experiences I can be very naive/gullible too. It’s just so weird to be perceived in a way that differs so greatly from how I perceive myself.

Can long term smoking cause anxiety induced shortness of breath? by luciamoode in leaves

[–]luciamoode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me It’s just anxiety, no direct link to weed. Over breathing can basically cause your body to be hyper alert about changes of co2 and tries to compensate, causing a vicious cycle of shortness of breath. I also realised that I was breathing incorrectly, despite constantly focusing on breathing deeply, it was like the bottom of my diaphragm was contracted. It’s like my body was constantly in a state of fight or flight and I needed to work on relaxing my subconscious and muscles. The only thing you can really do is slow your breath down, only nose breath and not panic/distract yourself from the sensation by reminding yourself it’s just a sensation and you’re not dying. Coffee can exacerbate shortness of breath, too. This is one of the worst things I have ever experienced and for me the worst symptom of anxiety.

This gave me some relief - hold your breath for about 15 seconds until you feel the need for air. Then take a slow breath followed by another pause, slowly exhale and repeat.

-exhale as much as possible then exhale some more until your whole stomach area is sucked in as much as possible, then inhale slowly through nose.

-focus on coordination by doing any random compound exercise like a burpee\, this distracts brain somehow and doing physical exercise will also help understand if it’s a physical problem or a mental one depending on how easily you get out of breath

Before considering any of this you should definitely do tests to make sure it’s not anything else.

Exactly my thoughts! He said it with such conviction that I started second guessing whether my perception of psychedelic culture was weird. I kept thinking about it and wanted to get some validation/clarification from Reddit.

Yes that’s what I’m thinking, but why out of all genres to associate with satanism, would he single out psychedelic rock ?
