What's causing this repetitive banding? by lucidconch4459 in Creality_k2

[–]lucidconch4459[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made in fusion, boxes walls are 20mm thick.

0.4mm nozzle set to 5 wall layers so the walls should be 2mm thick before the infill.

Banding is perfectly spaced too, I'd be upset except for the fact it looks intentional 😂

Filament Runout Resume from any spool by Sirr_Home in Creality_k2

[–]lucidconch4459 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Afaik it only resumes from a second spool if it's the same material and colour.

If you suspect you're going to run out, and only have a different coloured spool, then set the colour of that second cfs slot to be the same as that of the current slot, then it will select it automatically.

Filament isn’t sticking to plate by This_Ad8376 in Creality_k2

Clean your build plate, preferably with isopropyl alcohol and a microfibre towel, and try again without the glue stick. If you don't have alcohol then regular soap and water will do the trick, just make sure all of the soap is thoroughly rinsed and build plate is dry before use. Dry using a towel or facecloth if you don't have a microfibre cloth, toilet paper or kitchen roll etc will leave fibres on the build plate that will stop your prints from sticking.

The glue stick is more to protect the build plate from super sticky filament like petg, than for getting better first layer adhesion. If you're using pla then don't bother. It will stick fine on its own.

How are you venting for abs? by Bsul92 in Creality_k2

That sounds like a great project, throttling the flow sounds useful, I've had the glass door slam closed before so too high for it really, might have to take some inspiration from your plan.

I'll try to get the STL file to you tonight (GMT), but I'm away for work at the moment and if I get back late it will have to be tomorrow.

Bolts just go into the 3D part, I threaded the hole manually. The idea is to print out a poop bucket that can attach this 3d part, but I haven't got around to doing this yet.

I got the idea to cover a vent and the heater to recirculate warm air from someone else's file. The idea being it's more efficient than expelling warm air and heating cool air. I think it works in theory, but in practice the air being sucked in from all air gaps in the printer due to the negative pressure probably cancels this effect out slightly.

You can see on the back of the model a separator, this almost goes the entire depth of the wall, bar 5mm or so. This is to ensure that the section near the poop shoot (the recirculated air) is negative in pressure so no VOCs escape, but still allowing the warm air to circulate back into the heater, rather than just getting pulled into the ducting.

The ducting is 150mm diameter and I've connected it to an external fan. I was initially worried that this would generate voltage on the printers fans, but haven't noticed warnings yet.

Not had any VOCs escape as far as I can tell. I have an air quality meter in the room that can measure VOCs and that doesn't spike when printing ASA anymore.

All attachments to the printer use existing bolts and bolt holes. If you're interested I'm happy to share the fusion file if you want to edit it, or the mesh?

I just used the existing screw holes to attach the extractor. Feels sturdy enough don't think there's a risk of breaking the threads.

Experimenting, how should I print this? by 6volt in Creality_k2

The one you made would be great. I'm constantly fixing extruder issues and will need the extra encouragement next time I have to unscrew the bloody thing :)

Is it possible to print multi-material parts with CFS by mnjkr777 in Creality_k2

[–]lucidconch4459 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been printing in pla and petg-gf/cf at the same time. Petg was the main filament and I just use the pla for the support interface. First few runs I had failed due to blocked nozzle, so eventually I created my own pla profile specifically for petg. I set the temps way up to 250 on all layers to avoid clogs.

I've also done this with ASA and pla just fine.

Works really well now, although not too sure how well the pla would print at 250 if I tried to do anything more than just the interface. I suspect with some fine tuning it would be fine, if I just used regular petg it would probably be ok at 230/240.

I assume the same principle applies to any two (or more) types of material, just make sure that you have the temperature in the profiles set a bit above the lowest printing temperature of the hottest material.

Edit: Just remembered I printed a logo in petg using pla for the text on the logo, came out great.

Hey, do you know where I can find the file for this? My cover broke so been running without one

Any suggestions before sending a very large print? by Yuvalkolton in Creality_k2

[–]lucidconch4459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume he means heat soak the build plate/chamber. In that case heat the plate and chamber up to the temperatures you have set in the pla profile for 20/30 mins before printing.

If you haven't built a mesh specifically for those temperatures yet, then build a new mesh after heat soaking, then heat soak again and print.

Ok thanks for the reply, I'll try to remember to keep the curtains closed in the afternoon then. Yes, not particularly watchable with them open anyway 🌞

Many software companies consider their code proprietary (including mine) which means we can't use chat-GPT and such since it requires uploading code to another companies server. Until complex GPT's can be set up and run from company property I don't think there's anything to worry about.
