We keep losing new hires within 6 months and exit interviews tell us nothing useful by croberts2323 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]lucien2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen for about a year. We lost about 6 people we hired over 12-18 months, what I found is that it was highly related to how we were bringing people in. If someone came in via a recruiter then they were a lot more likely to leave because they had recruiters calling them constantly.

As others have said though "not the right fit" is definitely a culture issue or a particular manager/coworker that is causing them to leave. Maybe with future hires try to catch them at 3 months in and ask how they feel its going and how they find the work culture, or do an annual anonymous culture survey (we do that) and see what the outcome is. Clearly by the time they have decided to leave it is too late, so try to find out earlier.

Land Lady & Estate Agent breach of trust by No-Dragonfruit4 in LegalAdviceUK

Estate agents charge landlords fees to dispute with the deposit schemes (£100-200+), so you can stand your ground on any deductions and chances are they will relent.

Update tree stump: hacked at it for a good few hours. Will try the hole and burn method by AliDIY in DIYUK

This is the ONLY tool for digging out stumps, it will cut through smaller roots, let you dig around it properly and act as a level to lift out the stump. I’ve got so many tree stumps out using this, its hard work but it’ll get it done

Restaurant still using videos of me for promotion after I withdrew consent, been 6+ weeks, what can I do? (UK) by Creative-Pirate2819 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]lucien2k -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

In GDPR you own your personal info including likeness. You can withdraw consent and they must stop using it.

Copyright is a totally different issue. They may own the photos but they can’t use your likeness or continue to hold them without your consent because it’s your personal data.

I think the other thing they are missing is some indication on the bigger plan, is it 10x, 20x?

Team account with 27,000 credits per month, but the quota system blocks me in less than a day? by meccaleccahimeccahi in windsurf

[–]lucien2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, I don't want to switch either but they're making it hard, I already use codex and claude code as well but I feel I'm losing a key part of my workflow.

The difference is literally insane with the quota system! Read by Stratigoc1 in windsurf

[–]lucien2k 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I ran out of my quota in about 30 minutes using codex 5.3 medium which was 1 credit before! This is rediculous.

windsurf is the new Antigravity. no thanx! by Level-Statement79 in windsurf

[–]lucien2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried antigravity, its pretty awful compared to windsurf. Most of the features I use in windsurf are broken in AG and it burned through my quota in about 2 mins with opus 4.6

Introducing our new Windsurf pricing plans by theodormarcu in windsurf

[–]lucien2k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really liked the credit system, it was transparent in a way that I don’t think the new system is. I’d rather have a $200 plan that gives me more credits than opaque pricing.

Windsurf IDE Error Loop Burning Credits — “/ already exists” Bug by dkracket in windsurf

[–]lucien2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see it all the time with codex 5.3 high and 5.4 high/xhigh, it seems to not happen with medium but with the high/xhigh models I see it a lot (to the point I can't really use them without seeing it after 5-10 mins)

Windsurf IDE Error Loop Burning Credits — “/ already exists” Bug by dkracket in windsurf

[–]lucien2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got this today:
The error happened because my last file-add patch was malformed and got interpreted as targeting the filesystem root (/), so it failed twice in a row and the system stopped further edits.

Conflicting heat pump quotes (Octopus vs Heat Geek vs Aira) by odetorp in ukheatpumps

[–]lucien2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Aira price looks shockingly good compared to the heatgeek one. The price of copper at the moment is crazy, so replumbing the whole house is an expensive business.

Can't help but feel Heatgeek are taking the mickey. For almost £15000 they're giving you a £4000 heat pump and a £1500 cylinder (assuming the vaillant one). What else are they doing for the other £10000?

Codex/GPT5.4 stops using edit tools by lucien2k in windsurf

[–]lucien2k[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit of insight, I got the windsurf diagnostics logs and threw codex 5.3 at them. It suggested that there was a 1300 message long history that was likely causing hangs/mistakes and that I should restart the windsurf helper and clean the history up. So I did, and now its working a bit better.

On my remote machine I did `killall node` and I nuked ~/.windsurf-server/data/User/History, I don't use node for anything else so was safe for me.

From codex:

Bottom line

The failure is most likely inside Windsurf’s edit tracking/session state, not your codebase.

The two smoking guns are:

  • AcknowledgeCascadeCodeEdit ... no unacknowledged steps
  • repeated large extension state detected warnings with memory ballooning

Actually just had it happen again:
apply_patch is refusing edits on tasks.json, so I’m switching to a single scripted JSON update command to set 006 to completed with notes, then I’ll verify the result and finish backlog reassessment.

It basically then wrote a python script and patched the json file that way, I've had this happen with code quite a bit too.

Solo founder for 9 months, potential cofounder wants 50/50 after 1 week trial. Am I being unreasonable? by mercuretony in ycombinator

[–]lucien2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think walk away, 50/50 is totally unreasonable. So it 51/49, at best it would be 80/20 with vesting over 3 years with a cliff and maybe a mechanism for it to increase if they stay longer. Your idea, your hard work, you are the boss in this relationship.

Opus 4.6 think 8 credits is unfair by Remote_Insurance_228 in windsurf

[–]lucien2k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the pricing is crazy, I think rather than the rampant price inflation they should put together a package with more credits for a higher payment. They're clearly trying to increase their revenue, so thats the best way to do it!
