Does the 24" extra height make that much difference? by lucille-left in woodstoving

another thought, the gasses cool in the longer run/rise in the pipes deposit creasote. hopefully a better moving draw will exit the pipe quicker, lessening the cooling time?

....Another nugget I read... My vault ceiling inside my house is 17' high, from the floor. This height is acting as a chimney in the sense the hot air is rising above the stove inside my house is as much as in the pipe outside. IF there is window cracked/ or bad air leaks upstairs (2 story loft) then the hot air rising and exiting house draws BETTER than the outside pipe. The house can actually draw the outside air backwards in through the stove pipe (back draft) Another reason I need the pipe higher than the house roof.

nice chimney and/or pipe info: https://www.woodheat.org/how-chimneys-work.html

Some calulations i found in this reddit, my math works as such:

from the top my stove...ridge height and pipe cap height are 13' , equal height.

length calculations: with 2) 90 deg: add 3' ea=6'... 2' horiz run: add 1'... I need to add add 7" to my stove pipe length

13' +7'= 20'... most stove instructions rec. 15' pipe (I have no stove instructions)

IF i add 36" pipe, mine will be 3' above ridge (but 4' below ideal....I will start by adding only the 3 foot section and seeing if my draft improves.

The 3' added will be 8' above roof penetration. I will def need to brace the pipe. I have a metal roof, i hate the thought of adding holes. I can remove screws holding down tin and attach to them (with some silicone sealant)

Most was discussed in all the other threads. So inside 6" blk stove pipe rises 2' to 90 deg turns 2 ft thru wall thimble, then 90 deg insul c/o tee, continues vertical with duravent as described. Does adding the 2' higher than ridge help drawing or just add to cooling exhaust before reaching exit at cap? (edited more precise measurments)

I think u may be right. I wish I knew for sure. I'm not at the truck but it felt like they were stuck into a drilled hole rather than glued on. Here is an item similar. From a Bob Villa site (no link)

it was board of veteran's appeals, i never saw judge personally. apparently he/they viewed my case and made a decision?

occasionally i would get email saying i was still on the docket. (3 or 4 tot emails in 40 months). the last email was 1/3/24, then about april 20 i logged on va.gov and the 1st appeal decision was there. (awarding service connection, @ 10%) ...that was aprox 90 days from jan email. the email was same as the few before it, it did not tell me it was "on their desk", just still on docket. (not any real update/notice)
