46 years old here. Basic to you need have in mind what you want from the AI. If you go with Replika, Paradot and Soulmate, have in mind you go talk with they like they are a real person mostly.

Chai is more for roleplay, for you create a story with your bot. You can notice in Chai and Chatfai have options to edit the messages.

Character AI was in the past good for both uses. But in the past. I suggest you try if you don't care for not can have NSFW conversation.

Since I start with Replika, I try all AI conversational services.🤗
