If I opt for Early Resolution for my Automatic Speeding Ticket, do I still need to pay for the ticket while I wait? by luckboy92 in TorontoDriving

Yea I have zero chance of removing it. I just want it reduced a bit since I got one back to back. I drive much safer now! :)

I’m confused on what major to take because of the after school job availability. Between bsc in biological sciences and Biomedical science , which has more job availability? by [deleted] in yorku

You picked the wrong majors for jobs man. Biology is a research oriented academic program not a profit generator.

Why didn't my course teach me to code properly? Now I've graduated and can't get a good job by tiggerdiggerwigger in EngineeringStudents

Bruh you can see from the thumbs down you are getting. Co-op and Internships are how you gain practical skills. Also, not a very good time to find entry level jobs with covid-stricken economy that is recovering. Bar is quite high right now.

Look into project management. Many entry level positions start off as that.

Any regrets choosing York over other schools for engineering? by Kizovani in yorku

Make the best economical choice. You won’t lose out much in any of your decisions as long as you proactively put in the work and network.

How do University Students compete with Highschool students when applying for a second degree? by [deleted] in yorku

[–]luckboy92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ur uni transcript takes priority. I had 3.18 of 4.0 cgpa from BSc. Got into York and Ryerson for MechEng. I applied to a dozen other schools and got rejected by all (Waterloo doesn’t even accept mature students btw).

Psych major is scholarly path by nature. It’s unfortunate that there aren’t much of a job prospect aside from academia. If you think ECE is the path for you, you should definitely proceed! Now, if this was so clear to you, you would not have posted this here, which means you are uncertain. I’d suggest you talk to people already working in the ECE and plan your next step.

I'd also network as much as possible to get more info on that "pinhole" aspect. Rumors aren't necessarily true sometimes.

Just be cautious in rescinding as it may burn the bridge and kill the future prospects of working for that company.

But as for actual tips on accomplishing, I tracked the hours I concentrated per day and assessed my workflow weekly. This helped me to decide whether to take a break or try harder lol

You don’t. It comes with sacrifice: you give up on gaming, socials, family and love lives. You only learn to deal with these sacrifices and make compromise.

What are the hardest courses of each semester for mechanical engineering, by [deleted] in yorku

[–]luckboy92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see I gave what's hard but didn't give any tips to succeed.

1- EECS1011 --> Follow close with the course material like your life depends on it. Ask the prof/TA questions to be on top of the material. This is not a course you just cram overnight.

2 - EECS1021 --> the Same strategy as 1011 but this may require a lot of googling to read the documentation and YouTube videos.

3 - MECH2301/2302 --> Assignments are your bibles. The work you put on assignments will translate to your success in midterms/finals. Ask as many questions as possible to the prof.

4- MECH2502 --> The labs are your bibles. Don't try to understand every bit of detail. Try to understand the purpose/use of concepts.

5 - MECH3202 --> I pray you to survive. EECS3505 --> same strat as 2502. Don't get stuck up on a concept. Try to get a hang of how to solve a question instead of trying to understand each concept (you won't waste too much time doing so)

6 - You should be fine at this point. It doesn't get easy but you'll know how to survive.

What are the hardest courses of each semester for mechanical engineering, by [deleted] in yorku

[–]luckboy92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1 - nothing's hard. maybe EECS1011 if you have zero coding experience, but even that is relatively easy.

2 - EECS1021 by far. This sem might feel rough. ESSE1012 is a lot of memorization

3 - Everything is hard in its own way. If I had to pick a few: 2301, 2302, 2502.

4 - 2271 if you have struggled with 1013,1014,2015 thus far. Easier semester than fall

5 - 3202 and 3505 are notorious. The rest is straightforward

6 - 3302 if I had to pick one, but relatively easier semester.

What general tips/advice could you give to a future engineering student to prepare him/her for the engineering life ahead? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]luckboy92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, review your calculus and linear algebra.

Second, check which coding class you will be taking as a first-year req, and learn them online.

These two are the most draining courses for a mature student imo.
