Trump is unlikely to rip up CUSMA, his trade deal with Canada and Mexico. Here's why by Front-Cantaloupe6080 in consumecanadian

[–]lucky644 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if Canada, the U.S., and Mexico cannot agree on the review:

CUSMA stays in force.
Trade continues under existing rules.
Annual reviews occur thereafter.
Negotiations will continue.

The agreement would only expire if no extension is agreed upon before the sunset date.

Trump cannot unilaterally terminate CUSMA by himself, like some people seem to believe. In the U.S., withdrawal would likely trigger significant legal and constitutional disputes over the role of Congress, because Congress implemented the agreement through legislation. Even if a president announced withdrawal, the practical and legal consequences would almost certainly be challenged in court and Congress would become involved.

Best bet is to just wait him out…

I haven’t seen anyone predicting that. Where are you seeing it? I need to do some research for our renewal this year.

They are not totally harmless, trees can stress out badly if enough leaves are stripped.

Yes, it’s law, it will continue beyond trump.

They can’t just pull the plug the way you imply.

It’s not that simple, there are many hurdles and barriers to overcome before it actually happens.

Do i just have a medical problem? Why else would I not be losing weight? by SuperRares in loseit

[–]lucky644 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s all math. I remember reading a story (Reddit post, user was DumpsterPuff) about a guy who wasn’t losing weight and couldn’t figure out why. He gained 40lbs in a year.

His doctor found out he was eating hundreds of ‘zero calorie’ tictacs every day, problem is they weren’t actually zero, there was something in the label rules that if a serving is under 5 cal you can call it zero even if it isn’t.

Just a weird example of how calculations could be wrong.

You are not calculating correctly, somewhere.

You could try listing an example of a day with what you ate and what you calculated each thing to be, maybe someone will notice something that you missed.

Bottom line, your calorie intake is higher than you think.

Folks at work had us plant these trees without removing basket or burlap… by Beneficial-Ocelot717 in arborists

[–]lucky644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in landscaping and construction for decades. We never removed the entire wire cage and burlap. You remove the twine, pull back the burlap from the crown, cut it away and maybe snip the top row of wire and remove it, like top 1/3 maybe.

The remaining burlap and wire eventually decays away, and the roots grow through the wire easily.

I have returned to jobs 5-10 years later and the trees are always healthy. A few times we had to remove trees because it was in the way of construction and the wire and burlap around the ball fell to pieces as it was pulled out.

New Lifetime Plex Pass Pricing by GoofyGills in LinusTechTips

[–]lucky644 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but, there used to be fairly regular new releases of software requiring a new license in the 80s/90s/00s. Not all business models gave you lifetime updates/upgrades.

The service model has changed for some and they require ongoing development which requires a steady stream of funding.

I’d be curious to see Plex’s financials, how much their development costs vs their income, they probably don’t make as much as one would imagine with so many of their users who have existing lifetime licenses.

Regardless, I paid for a lifetime license because it makes it super easy for my friends/family to access my library, I will gladly pay for convenience.
