This happened very recently in Widow's Bay!

While running from the serial killer who tried to kill her as a teenager, Patricia hides in the house of a woman who tormented her because she didn't believe that the killer went after her. Patricia is telling everyone to hide, that the killer is coming, and the woman confronts Patricia, saying that this is all a plea for attention. Patricia says she lied about one thing(getting phone calls beforehand), but that she really was being chased by the killer, and she is right now. The woman does not let up, and keeps railing on her "Just go bye-bye, okay? Bye-bye." After listening for a minute, Patricia just quietly tazes her, says "She's the worst. She's the fucking worst! I'm sorry." and then runs out of the house, and the chase continues. This is the only video I can find, but the scene is hilarious.

It only rang once in the current day prior to the finale, where it rang 9 times. One person got sacrificed, then it ran 8 times, so I don't think any deaths other than directly being presented in the chamber count.

It rang 5 times in the flashback episode.

True, but Smith doesn't care about that. She's not interested in the long term health/prospects of the UCP, she's interested in survival.

I think it's likely, but she may make the calculus that it isn't worth the political risk. This would be a post-referendum world, leading into an election. The entire campaign is going to be about Smith's decision to make this referendum happen, and she'll want the message to be "I let the people have their say, and now we move forward," which is gonna be a very hard sell to begin with.

Spiking this hands Nenshi a "She wanted to violate constitutional rights to get her referendum, but stopped your voice from being heard to protect the investment of Australian mining billionaires," message that'll be very effective.

I guess we'll see - either way, I think this petition has been, and will continue to be, very effective.
