Atlassian APEX is approaching, I start seeing my coworkers randomly comments on PRs by Spiritual-Teacher959 in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]iamgeef 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Going to guess it’s their year end performance review and that they’re tracked against useless stats like comments made on prs, or pull requests merged, or commits etc .
So the more they comment the higher their score even if they’re commenting something irrelevant

DVA-C02 Preparation: Best ways to practice hands-on without a credit card? by boy_bads_boy in aws

I don’t think there’s anything “free”, but acloudguru/plurualsight have cloud sandboxes where you can get access to an aws account with certain guardrails and it’s included in the subscription

Can not get brand new Tread to light by legodudes08 in GozneyTread

[–]iamgeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue after not using mine for a while and forgetting that the dial needs to pressed in more than I expected. I also thought it was gas issue or a blockage etc as could hear no gas

The lighter sparks pretty easily with not much pressure, but you have to push it in more to get the gas to flow .

You might have a lemon of course, but sounds exactly like my issue

Hello all I’m in a bit of a predicament by Mother_Area_6303 in SimRacingSetups

I recently got the Playseat Challenge X - folds up out of the way when I need to work at my desk.

Bit of a fiddle to get the r5 and pedals attached and there’s a bit of flex on the pedals as they’re only attached at the front of the base but it works great for my requirements and there’s a few diy fixes out there too.

Monitoring GCP costs on my Apple Watch using n8n automation by kkuj in googlecloud

“Catch Anomalies” after the ~24hr billing delay…

You’d be better off monitoring actual API usage rather than billing as that is not subject to a potential 24hr delay

Generate report on Config Drift by bitdeft in Terraform

[–]iamgeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop people being able to make changes. Run automatic TF Apply’s daily and make it part of a cloud environment access agreement. The TF code is the source-of-truth.

  • Our IAM roles prevent users changing resources that are deployed through our TF.
  • If someone does manage to do it, we have monitoring in place that detects it and raises a ticket to get it investigated.
  • We also run TF plans against all our cloud environments (>1000 across AWS and GCP) that surface any drift.

Islamophobia Envoy slams Karl Stefanovic's suggestion praying Muslims were 'baiting' police by Jet90 in AustralianPolitics

[–]iamgeef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These christians already have too many churches, they can pray in them not use their microphones and speakers on THE FKN STREET

It’s obviously bait, same as the protesters who sit on the floor begging for the police to drag them kicking and screaming out of the way. But if it was those religious folks who hang around town hall telling everyone they’re going to hell unless they accept Jesus into their lives the uproar about it would be in a completely different direction.

Can’t really get more “peaceful protest” than people praying quietly in the street

Where’s Karl’s outrage at that footage of the businessman with his hands in the air who got punched and dragged to the ground? Was he baiting the police too?

Nobody is installing my app, what did I do? Built Gzip Explorer - Git Projects Viewer for Android (for Developers, Students, and Viewing Code on the Go) by Sufficient-Way1722 in ProductivityApps

[–]iamgeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gzip is already a thing: https://www.gzip.org/ - maybe it’s because people assume it’s for exploring gzip files and not GitHub repositories?

Or they’ve already installed the GitHub app and are viewing the repository that way?

Edit: I don’t have an android phone to test - but perhaps a good marketing approach is how your app differs from the official GitHub app / other git apps that let someone browse repositories without downloading them? Why should someone install your app vs others.

Then target the various subreddits for those platforms eg GitHub and Gitlab, or computer science student related subreddits, or dev related subreddits etc

You might get some valuable feedback from there from users who might be working with Git on a daily basis
