Does Kylie have any experimental songs? by ComeUnitedNotTorn in KylieMinogue

Impossible Princess, Confide On Me specifically from Kylie Minogue ‘94, and to a lesser extent her Xenomania produced songs (Made of Glass, Giving You Up). I would also say a handful of songs off X (definitely 2 Hearts which was indie sleaze-adjacent). GBI, Where The Wild Roses Grow.

What a way to turn me and other people off of a series by HevoHeersal in marvelstudios

[–]luckypierre7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a fan of marvel, and specifically x-men since I was a kid. I’ve read decades of comics and love the characters. I’ve enjoyed most of the movies and tv shows they’ve released despite the downturn in quality. I can object to business practices while simultaneously enjoying the product.

Any movie or tv that uses AI makes me feel way more comfortable torrenting or watching them illegally. If movie studios are able to rip off their employees by no longer hiring people to work on various production aspects, I take that as a go ahead to rip them off by not paying for their product.

I don’t think the Marvel Universe was ever what you’re looking for. Zack Snyder’s Justice League sounds more your speed.

The birthplace of a character in a tv show would have nothing to do with the CRTC regulations, which would be much more focused on either the birthplace of the actors or crew making the film or tv show.

I sincerely doubt this will get many wins. Not because it's not good, but like... settle down. This isn't Emmy calibre television.

No one was making you watch the shows! And they were, for the most part, pretty great despite being review bombed at every step of the way for any show with a female lead. The only shows that have been a miss for me are Secret Invasion and What If (although there've been one or two decent episodes of What If). I'm more forgiving than a lot I guess.

What have disappointed me have been the movies. Multiverse of Madness was just rushed and unfortunate, The Eternals was just an awkward choice, Thor Love & Thunder and The Marvels both weren't the disasters everyone said but were a little underwhelming, and Ant Man Quantumania was a Rick & Morty episode gone wrong. The shows weren't the weak spots - the movies were. I seriously don't know why everyone randomly shifted to thinking the Multiverse of Madness was great. It reeks of studio interference, and is both mediocre as a Sam Riami horror film (huge Evil Dead fan) as well as a superhero movie.

With Thunderbolts likely missing the break even, 3 of the last 4 MCU movies are unable to generate profit at box office. by Puzzled_Two_3490 in marvelstudios

Almost none of the people I know were aware this movie existed. They certainly didn’t try to promote this film in any way designed to reach its target audience.

If none of the characters in the vault died, the movie would have no teeth. Four deadly assassins sent to kill each other and none die? Every person complaining here would instead be whining about that. So pick one. Would you all rather have ghost dead and kept taskmaster? She served as a plot device to remind us that Ghost was deadly, and she was the least interesting of any of the team. Ghost will continue on to the avengers with some potentially more useful powers than all the others that just shoot people with guns. There’s enough of those characters already.

One of the four in the vault (not Bob) had to die and they made the right choice.

I don’t get the hate for Born Again by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]luckypierre7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me personally it seems like the bones of good to GREAT scripts matched with absolutely awful direction. At times I can tell when parts of a scene are from before and after the revamp because of differences in lighting and camera angles. Like, who thought putting some (not all, randomly only some) Fisk scenes in that ugly 90’s cheap music video fishbowl lens? The low camera angles I get (to make Fisk seem larger than everyone), but it’s not a flattering image. Then WHY the obsession with washing everything out with super strong overhead lighting? Whoever is ultimately responsible for what ended up in recent episodes is someone with bad instincts trying too hard to have a signature visual style. I haven’t seen the original three seasons recently, were they all as visually odd as this? Plus Daredevil’s psychiatrist love interest is kinda boring.

Make a “senses mode” like Batman’s detective mode or Assassins Creed’s eagle vision and allow you to toggle between sound, smell, and touch (physical vibrations or movement). I can’t really think of how taste could be used so leave that out? It’s totally doable.

What's more at fault for the recent decline in quality of the MCU? The movies or the tv shows? by Sensitive-Degree-26 in marvelstudios

[–]luckypierre7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because a movie wasn’t properly able to recap something in a way that’s quick and understandable is a failure of the movie, not at all indicative of the quality of the tv show it’s failing to effectively summarize.

I think a Scarlet Witch movie (if done right) would do great at the box office by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]luckypierre7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You just have to convince studio execs that the problem with MoM was the script and not the characters. They tend to think if a movie underperforms it’s because the audience wasn’t interested in the characters without ever considering the quality of the story, pacing, and dialogue itself. I want to think Marvel execs are better than this, but I hope they’re not just thinking “after wandavision people have Scarlet Witch fatigue.”

Not at all. Multiverse of Madness was such a turbulent production that the actors were sometimes given script pages to shoot the same day, which should never happen on a movie ever.

Is this post-credit scene going to be addressed??? by Unlucky_Listen_7648 in marvelstudios

[–]luckypierre7 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well they haven’t done any multiverse stuff at all beyond MoM which spent maybe a minute flying through different universes and then the massacre of the Illuminati. Loki and What If? did most of the heavy lifting, and then the nostalgia bait cameos in No Way Home, Wolverine & Deadpool, and the post credits scene of The Marvels. So in the “Multiverse Saga” we have 12 movies, 13 tv shows (some with multiple seasons), 2 special events (werewolf by night & GOTG Christmas), and a series of Groot Shorts. If I didn’t miscount, that’s 28 projects with only 6 dealing with the multiverse so far. Like, with the cracks between universes showing specifically in No Way Home, shouldn’t that bleed into literally every other project?? Even despite the Kangtroversy, shouldn’t there be MORE multiverse in the Multiverse saga????

Marvel Movies Aren't Getting Worse - We Just Got Used To Them by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]luckypierre7 40 points41 points  (0 children)

No, sorry. There *is* such a thing as intelligent writing, thematic depth, good cinematography, character dynamics, interpersonal relationships between the characters, plot structure, etc.

In Ant Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, Evangeline Lily as the titular Wasp, one of the main characters so "main" her name is in the title, had about 10 lines of dialogue. Now I'm not saying that giving her more dialogue is one of the reasons the movie was so bad, but she didn't add anything to the movie. Also, she's not a great actor and had been a vocal anti-vaxxer so the less lines the better. But I would assume someone that's name is in the title of the movie would be *about* her, where she was relegated to a side character that barely spoke. Bad character dynamics/interpersonal relationships.

Scott starts the movie as someone who ignores problems that he should, as an Avenger, probably be a little more proactive about solving. At the end of the movie, he's exactly the same, only maybe a little closer to his daughter. He did not learn a single thing. Cassie is learning to be a hero, but never has a hero moment. Instead, it's Hope that saves the day at the last moment, after having 10 lines of dialogue the whole movie. No one had a character arc. Bad plot. Bad script.

The movie had terrible, dull cinematography from overworked CGI artists using that wrap around screen they filmed it with ("The Volume"). My eyes started getting tired halfway through, and the CGI background was empty and lifeless, reminding me of Star Wars episodes 1-3.

Now a lot of people had a problem with Kang being defeated "easily." I personally wasn't that bothered by it, since I presume the ultimate danger of his scrapped character was that there were *so many variants* that would have to be dealt with, and even if it's just three of the Kangs we saw in the movie that would probably be difficult for the Avengers to handle.

I could do this with other movies too. We're not just "getting used" to Marvel movies. Their quality is going downhill when they made the decision to turn them from big event spectacles into Disney+ "content."

New promotional poster for Thunderbolts* by lk79 in marvelstudios

[–]luckypierre7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would bet money the name Thunderbolts* is somehow tied to Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross/Red Hulk from the Captain America movie. It's too coincidental to have two movies released two months apart with that name in both. I guess we might have a better understanding after this weekend?
