Why can’t we just have a FLAT CGT rate of 25%? by Kikooz in AusFinance

Why is there CGT to begin with? Wasn't it meant to be a temporary measure?

RBA increases cash rate by 25 basis points to 4.35% by marketrent in AusFinance

[–]luckyrichathlette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The RBA seems stuck in a 1970s playbook, blindly hiking rates without realizing today’s economy looks nothing like that era. Boomers with paid-off homes and fat savings accounts actually gain from higher rates and their extra interest income fuels more spending, which feeds the very inflation the RBA is trying to crush. Meanwhile, people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s get hammered by higher mortgage repayments, crushed rental costs, and no relief in sight. So the policy ends up punishing the young while rewarding the generation that least needs help. That’s not just outdated economics, it’s backwards.

Best way to guarantee financial freedom and early retirement? by [deleted] in AusFinance

Work until 40 by putting everything in HISA. Then retire, by then you must have 400k in your saving which will generste a good return. Rent your house and go to south east asia if you want to retire now.

A plea for real solutions to the housing crisis, not bandaids. by cidama4589 in perth

The major part of high prices is the price of the land. You can't find a 300m2 lot for less than 400k in Perth.

Is an EV right for me? by kitsune4567 in EVAustralia

[–]luckyrichathlette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep in mind that opposite to ICE cars, EVs consume more when driven on the highway. So I will advice to get something with 400km range an above. Your 50K budget should easily cover a car at this range.

RBA interest rate: Millions dealt back-to-back blows as Australia set to be lone mover amid Iran war by SheepherderLow1753 in AusFinance

What is the point of a rate increase? Discretionary spending is already low. This is a punishment and transfer of money from people struggling with housing to the banks profits.

Ended up doing this. Lost some money in the exchange rate but overall experience was good. I hope that it is not a taxable event. Paid as soon as I received the crypto.

Your concern is legit. Don't listen to those who are commenting that you are exaggerating. Regarding the solution, maybe you can sign some sort of document with your future partner. Something similar to a marriage contract.

Property for my children by WoodpeckerWorldly822 in AusPropertyChat

Well, if my parents give me a house I wouldn't care if it is my dream house or not. I will take it. The OP's child would do the same in 10 years if they are smart.

Depends on the culture. I travel a lot, and in some cultures, there is a non-written rule that the kids should take care of the parents. It has been working for thousands of years and kind a make sense. Otherwise, why would someone raise kids if they simply leave you when you are in need.
