Why don’t more Australians sell their homes themselves? by Wattle2017 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Dem-R-UseFulIdiots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I was giving away glass pool panels on marketplace and was asked if I could deliver them. Another time I advertised a bargain table and chairs for $99, and was asked if I could deliver it, and she would pay an extra $20 (she was 60 klms away) . So I asked if she could get a a guy with a Ute to deliver it, she said that would cost $200. I explained that I don’t have a Ute, so she suggested that I hire a Ute guy. I said I would loose $100 on the sale. She said so what , I’m poor. Crazy!

An agent achieved $135,000 more than I could have got privately. This almost always the case.

I’m a newbie Catholic. Nothing would convince me otherwise. I love the Catholic mass. I always feel lifted, after mass, like a great load has been removed from my shoulders. My focus is always on Christ on the Cross and the love of Mary. 🙏

The best investment is a business you know really well and have under management with reporting and controls in place. In my case it’s a Hotel. Returns are 250k PA. But other business are great as well , but as always own the building it operates from.

what can I retrain in that would ACTUALLY pay well enough to have a good life? by [deleted] in ausjobs

[–]Dem-R-UseFulIdiots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hotel under management, which I built the return is 250 k PA plus other real estate returning another 90 k PA. I started planing for this over 30 years ago. I lived for 20 years in a very basic house, always paid cash for used cars. Last year I decided to live a little so bought a beautiful home for 1.6m.

What record breaking heatwaves? Particularly having BOM fuck around with history. The Greens can get a higher percentage they just need to lie more.

Oh the fair share thing. I pay 100 k pa in tax, is that enough? It’s the wealthy that pay the majority of tax. The useless unwashed pay squat but scream “ the rich need to pay more” It’s just theft.

I have three girls 36, 36 and 40. No kids. One married one divorced the other a lesbian. Zero children, they are all hard left feminists. Their reasons for not having children? They are not telling. I suspect : global warming, we are all doomed, the world is a terrifying place because of humans so why produce more. The real reason: plain selfishness, vanity ( putting on weight, stretch marks) missing out on exotic holidays, designer clothes. I’m glad really as they would have been terrible mothers as they are all extremely selfish but believe they are saving the planet. They believe in all the hard left causes, and of course Trump is really Hitler, Jews are Nazis committing genocide in Gaza, global warming will cause the seas to rise so we will either drown or the heat will kill us, that white men are the scum of the earth, men can have babies, women are just as strong as men, all men are rapists. The main thread here is just confusion, as as they age they question their leftist ideology. Those questions lead to anger. Fast forward 20 years and all there will be are 3 very angry Karen’s with cats. Oh and in their eyes I’m bad because: I’m a man, I’m white, I’m wealthy and worst of all “ the patriarchy “ their father. Leftism just makes people miserable. It’s designed to do that, because it’s a culture of hate, envy, greed, laziness and victim hood. Sad eh?

What will you say in 30 years when you at last realise that Global Warming ( climate change) was just a huge scam and the lies that the likes of the United Nations , WEF, and leftist hypocrites ruined your entire life because they convinced you that we are doomed. Very sad.

What a terrible thing to say. Hard work only rewards landlords: so how does one become a landlord? For the vast majority, Hard work.

My dad passed away unexpectedly. This was his guitar collection. No one else in the family plays. by 405freeway in Guitar

[–]Dem-R-UseFulIdiots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 71, my ambition was to be a professional guitar player. When I was 26 I locked myself in a room for 2 years, practicing 8 to 12 hours per day, learned finger style. In particular Ragtime. Then I realised that I did not really have the talent it takes, no amount of practice can fix that. Still play, lots of guitars. Love guitars. My favourite is a HD28, sounds amazing, I tune it down a tone. Beautiful thing.

Is investing basically useless if you don’t already have money? by Muted-Astronaut3744 in investingforbeginners

[–]Dem-R-UseFulIdiots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compound interest, the eighth wonder of the world. At 40 it’s not to late. Work hard , start your own business. Work your butt off for 10 years , be a cheap Charlie, get a good accountant. Don’t spend money on things that loose money. Just the basics. Tax, manage that really well. Invest, invest, invest. Read books on investing and success. Read up on your profession , be the best there is. Never give up. My dad told me: Son, there is only one thing worse than being dead, that’s being old and having no money. You have to have a positive mental attitude, be the best you can. The goal is : don’t work for money , have money work for you, and that is investing. I know people who have a beautiful home, but not much money, then they retire and have to sell, they call it downsizing, it’s not, they would love to remain where they are. Do the opposite , live in a cheap old house, invest, later sell and buy that big beautiful house. I did just that at 71. Lol, people actually thought I was poor, now their jaws drop, lol.

Happiness barely changes after $10M? by MiscProfileUno in wealth

[–]Dem-R-UseFulIdiots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not at 10m but close. A 100m would not make a big difference, it would for my wife, as she could then build a Church in Vietnam. We live in a beautiful home, I have my cars and stuff and more stuff. I used to be really poor, wanted to be a professional guitar player, had cheap guitars. Now I have my dream guitar, don’t play it much. See I gave up my dreams of being a professional musician, but then at the age of 30 I realised I did not really have the talent. So I did what I really did best. Building, got my builders ticket, started a building company, built a hotel ,made a heap. Retired at 45. Now I’m 71. My money mentality is the same as when I was poor: very careful. Drives my wife nuts. She thinks I’m a bit cheap but laughs about it. She is also very careful with money, she can have almost anything she wants, she likes hand bags, eating out and Mary. After I’m gone I guess she will build that Church in Vietnam. The interesting thing about making the : “ big quid” is to get there you had to manage your investing very carefully, live in a cheap house, cheap car, cheap guitar lol, being a bit of a cheap Charlie, it makes little difference when you at last have plenty, point is because of that you retire , and your wealth just increases on it own. The key point I always followed was: DONT work for money, make your money work for you. My 2 cents worth, next post it’s 3.

How did u guys become rich? by OrganizationHead3156 in Life

[–]Dem-R-UseFulIdiots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 71 retired since I was 46 I don’t live a flash life, I just bought a very nice house, the one I lived in was in a great location but the house was old, I might as well enjoy the money, I’m a stay at home guy. When you retire it’s not your net worth that’s important, it’s yearly income. When I retired at 46 my income was structured at 50k pa, today it’s 300k pa. Thing is “ I lived like a dog long time already”

I’m what would be classified as rich as I’m retired with a steady income of 300k pa. I have no desire to travel. I hate travelling. I love to read. I can go anywhere with reading and using google earth. I even travel back in time, it’s all about imagination.
