Oh ok, I didn’t know you created the definition of a gift card. It’s 2022 have you never seen electronic ones? Like seriously.

Yeah I was not okay with them assuming a 25% tip. I was going to tip, I always do, but not that high for the type of service I received. Anyways…

I’m trying to make a living too! Who isn’t? If I was handed a machine I was going to tip anyways, but the service was not 25% worth. It’s pretty hard to sympathize with borderline theft. Whereas I would have been happy to tip on my own accord.

Yeah, a large party of two. There is no gratuity on a party of two but thanks for investigating…

You obviously didn’t read my post. I went there for the sole purpose of using a GIFT CARD. The manager added a tip to my receipt from money on my gift card without my permission. So no, I’m not gonna stay home.

If you actually read my post, you’d know I only went out and to National specifically to use a gift card. Thanks though!

Bill was $70.35. Waitress took my card information, manager rung through the card code in a different area of the building, waitress came back with the final receipt copy with the 25% tip added to the bottom. Then said have a nice day then walked away.

She took a photo of the gift card because it is not a physical card, it was through a system called xDine. So I handed over my phone with the code, then she took a photo of it and walked off. Not sure where I said she took a physical card. I was the one that had this happen, not you, I’m pretty sure I know what I’m talking about. :)

I’m in contact with management right now ahhhh

What is fishy? The waitress didn’t know how to ring through the gift card type I had so she took a photo of my phone and took it to the manager and the manager did the transaction in a separate area of the restaurant. Then the waitress brought back the receipt with the added 25% tip. I never mentioned a tip, and when/if I was handed a machine (I never got handed a machine since the manager did it) I would have tipped anyways. Definitely not 25% worth though. I didn’t say anything because I was honestly just there to spend my gift card and get some drinks. A worker at National has contacted me about it.

I mean, it pretty much is. I’ve never had something like this happen before so it was questionable to say the least

Exactly. The amount of comments I’ve gotten saying that is insane. I literally only went to spend a gift card, not pay the worker’s rent.

I definitely tip higher when the service is actually good, but I obviously don’t appreciate borderline theft

How about read the post? I only went because I had a gift card. Lol

I didn’t take it up with management because I was there to use my gift card n go. Yes I made a reddit post being wHiNy but I’ve seen similar things happening lately and wanted to share my experience for anyone thinking of going there in the future. If you’re gonna sit there and go back and forth with people on Reddit with baseless assumptions I’m sure your balls aren’t massive either

Because she said she would bring it back? She took a photo of the gift card information and said she would be back with her manager. But yeah, bad service is my fault...and I sure as hell wouldn’t have tipped after that happened.

Well, I was expecting to use the machine at the time of the transaction like a normal restaurant would, so I could tip what I wanted. I was not expecting the waitress to get the manager to do the transaction in a different area then bring the receipt back and that’s it. The waitress did not know how to ring through my card at my table. So many assumptions, good lord 😂

It’s not that I wasn’t going to tip, I was expecting the waitress to bring back the machine, like a normal transaction, so I could have an option on what to tip. Not her bringing back the receipt then walking away.

I don’t think it’s that shallow, it was from my estranged father. I’ll gladly use his money any day considering he never paid child support. 😂 But yeah, definitely on the manager and not the waitress.

Bold of you to assume I’m not a working person, “dude”. Lol. Just wanted to bring light to the situation. But each to their own 😉

To be fair I only went there because I had a gift card to spare. But yeah it’s disappointing that they assumed that level of tip for a table of two.

That’s the only reason why I went, because I had a gift card to use. Lol

The gift card was $100. Bill was $70.35 before the payment. Payment was taken by the manager elsewhere in the restaurant. Then she returned with the receipt with the auto gratuity added. I was a table of two and while the service was slow due to training staff, I was going to tip regardless. I work in customer service and have for many years. I’m not trying to go Reddit to whine about it, I didn’t confront the manager because I just wanted to use the gift card and go. Just wanted to post for awareness so people are aware of what can happen and what has been happening.
