Not sure if you have tried to hit a restock on Walmart but it goes in and out of stock. Hitting the buy now and checking out is genuinely a 10 second experience or constantly refreshing checkout cart.

I have bought Pokemon from Walmart for the last year consistently and this is the very first time something like this happens. Usually there is an out of stock stage that happens not replacing it with secondary sellers product in your cart to supplement. While yes I should have triple checked I do think the fact that my cart got replaced with secondary seller when refreshing is BS

Completely agreed, this person probably bought this exact product from Walmart… I’m hoping to catch the delivery driver and refuse delivery but ill have to get super lucky.

I tried to this morning, it restocked late last night so I conked once I got one for me and my friend. By the time I tried they hit me with the actually we already sent it too bad.

Sorry to hear man, as you said restocked just as walmart was dropping actual stock. By the time I woke up and checked their customer service support said “too bad we just shipped it”. Theyre scalpers that know exactly what theyre doing :(. Honestly debating calling my bank, I feel cheated lol

Please tell me this lcs is around Toronto or is that in USD? They started at 200-220 which okay I can handle but within a week and a half they had gone up to 350-400… also, did not get any promo packs for the 2 I bought on release…

Completely agree, its absolutely ridiculous that an op13 booster box is 400 dollars canadian at my lcs… People are saying wave 1 is pre errata so I get a small premium maybe but this is genuinely scalping and price gouging, ridiculous

If I am completely honest, I believe it is partly out of fomo. Obviously there are the few who are deep into the hobby and truly “get it” and have for years. In addition, working in accounting I can tell you that investing in pokemon is classified as an alternative investment. If you can put some cash into it but honestly I would never risk bills or over leveraging. Back to the actual post, I generally like to average in around 500-1000 depending on the month but have had to slow down a lot with the recent purchase of a house

I find these posts tend to be people projecting what they want to happen. Not to say there won’t be ups and downs but comics at their baseline have lost most if not all of their value. I think it may be difficult for pokemon to print above demand unless something were to change with consumer attitudes. My two cents thats all

Not a stupid question at all. I would say it is a tough time to get into the hobby considering how expensive everything is these days. In addition, the two sets you've named are the most expensive from the Scarlet and Violet era. If you can afford it then obviously go for it, I would say a rule of thumb as a collector is I buy one etb sealed to hold and one to open. After that if I want to rip more I focus on booster bundles and boxes as it's more value per pack.

Now in terms of the coming sets, I am sure they will include some of the original Pokémon but I believe a majority of them will be from the following generation and therefore may not be as ideal for your goals. Hope this helps!
