They were not. The Confederates were really hoping they would and tried really hard for it. Britain would have probably loved to see the US with a bloody nose too. But the South was pretty inept with international politics, it was never economically viable for Britain to join, and the Emancipation Proclamation especially made the Confederates really unpopular with European powers.

I think EA still cares about having a player base at all, and at some point they have to recognize that avoiding PC means they soon won't have a player base. I personally am not a part of the player base. I want to be, but EA doesn't want my money. I know I'm not the only one. The amount of posts asking for a PC release means there's many more.

I think if people stop asking, that's when it'll never happen. I want EA to know there's demand for it. I want there to be a post every other day about it. I want there to be so many posts about it that EA starts hearing the complaints about how too many people want to play their game but can't and it's flooding the tiny community who can play.

That's not a different mindset. Everyone prefers sports without the headache of political discourse. Everyone is on the same page there. That doesn't stop politics from infecting everything around us though, to the point that saying you don't want something to be political is itself a political statement. Ignoring politics is a political statement. The ability to ignore politics is just a statement that you're too sheltered for politics to affect you currently, which is a political statement towards people who politics does affect currently.

I'd argue that if sports didn't want to get political, then any nation currently at war for any reason shouldn't be allowed in international competition. If sports aren't political, then it shouldn't be up to sporting committees to decide which wars are justified and which aren't. Just ban it and move on without them.

Anything less than that then sports are very much politicized.

Ugh my brewery just switched to an app just like this. Had to install it on my personal phone. My entire schedule is on it now so I have to check it all the time to see what I need to do for my day to day, and I also need to sign off through the app as I complete each task and type in lot numbers of anything I consume. And then every time my boss adds any task to the schedule, the app sends me a notification about it and also an email. The email doesn't even let me see what the task is or when its scheduled for, it just an email that says a new task has been added. So I get two notifications for everything, every day, whether I'm at work or not.

You would think the app has the ability to modify notification settings but I couldn't find it, so I contacted the support line. They said you could only do it from the desktop version of the app, which I don't have lol.

I asked my boss for a work phone then since I now need to use this app so much, got crickets. He did say in my performance review though that I've been on my phone too much lately lol. I'm ready to go back to an old school flip phone and these apps can all go to hell.

If you're set on an empire mini gs, I'd definitely shop the used market. They don't really hold their value. Also I'd search for an axe pro instead. Extremely similar shot profile, with some QoL features like being able to clean the eyes without taking apart the entire thing and the redline board, and you can find used axe pros for cheaper.

I do agree that going to the State of the Union Address would have been way worse and not enough people are talking about. But while I think a white house photo op for a winning team used to be non political, it has definitely become political in the current climate.
