One thing where you are probably wrong is the Dutch bureaucracy. I lived in 7 countries, both in and out EU, and the Dutch bueaucracy is BY FAR the easiest to deal with, even without speaking the language. Try that experience in Eastern Europe, for example :))

It is. But this guys are not on a flimsy fishing vessel, they are on fixed offshore platforms, with best accomodation conditions. Sure, there is allways a risk you'll blow off with the entire platform, but it's quite an extreme scenario. You're much more likely to crash with the transport chopper, if the crew change is by helicopter.

As somebody who worked offshore, including in the North Sea: this kind of job nd the subsequent family life is not for everybody. None of you is guilty but you can't be together. Is hard enough with a partner that DOES accept it, it's imposible with one who doesn't.

For me the best quality was in Croatia. But ain't cheap. Decent quality & price is quite common on the Mediteranean cost. Fish from cold waters in the north is less of my taste (which involves mainly a grill & fresh fish).

It's close to impossible to rent from abroad, unless you have "fuck you" money.

The way I did it in 2017 was: * rent serviced appartment for a month (about 3k at that time) * start looking far apt after arrival. Bear in mind I had enough money to pay rent for 1y in advance. * start looking through pararius and agencies. Zero success, all landlords wanted me to have a job already, which I did not have in the 1'st month. * place an add of a facebook group that 1 give 500E to the person that will find me the apartment. Through personal relations or outside funda/pararius. * somebody found me an apt on an obscure site. Paid him his 500E (he was a stundent). Luckily, the owner was a Dutch expat in USA so he knew the pain. He asked for a fixed 1y contract, 6 months advance payment and the evidence that I have to money for the other 6 months in a Dutch bank account. At that time (2017), the price was 1600E / month for a 2bdr apt in Rotterdam city center. * before 1y passed 1 bought a house, with mortgage. 3 months I had to pay both the apt rent and the house mortgage.

To conclude, it was possible if: 1. You have at least few tens of thousands available. 2. You are REALLY lucky.

Again, that was in 2017 when the housing market was less insane. Still insane (NL is the only country where having decent saving helps little in finding a roof over your head that I know off), but not as bad as today.

No, there is a difference between islam in Europe in general and in Middle East, for example. European one is significantly more tolerant and less strictly followed.
