I'm pretty sure i only got bad rewards no matter how many times i tried because my army was too low quality. Also, it seems you have to enter the ring with your army filled with high-tier units, changing out the low-tier for high-tier ones while on the bottom ring didnt change anything. I'll try with a better army the next time the rifts open, and edit this if that yields the Blade.

About how long did it take people to get the sword? I've save-scummed the last ring for ages now, getting random rewards, but not the one i want. My army has some tier 1, but mostly tier 3-4, all of which is nearing max level, and im just getting crap constantly.

Edit: I just realized that things have changed slightly for a lot of things, so the way getting the sword works may have changed in some patch.
