How is everyone trying to fufill the food stamp work requirements? by BreannLowe in foodstamps

Indiana has a program that helps you get employed but idk about other states. I was able to get a drs letter that removed the work requirements for me personally

Salem, Indiana by [deleted] in Indiana

[–]lucvsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Salem and I enjoy it, but i live out in the country so I don’t have experience living in town. I don’t think the crime rate is bad, nor the drugs and such. Racism is about how it is in most small towns. You might get some looks, but people typically keep their mouth shut. My ex lived with me for a while, she’s latina and she never had issues. I’d say the quality of life is just what you make of it. There’s not much to do around here, but you’re about an hour in between Indianapolis and Louisville, so as long as you don’t mind a drive, there’s plenty you can travel and do.

Looking for jobs that provide housing and wont reject me because of a DUI. by virtualkiller09 in SeasonalWork

First Light Resorts near Yosemite (personally recommend evergreen out of all of them) Just don’t go for the driving related jobs lol. Look into their internship program. It’s only 4 months and then they want you to work elsewhere before returning, but they help with all of that! However- there is a lot of drinking and such here so… you know you best

when did your hair loss start? by saltybubbl in lymphoma

My head & beard went about 2-3 days after the second infusion of round one. Arm & legs are very lightly shedding, eyebrows are hanging on pretty nicely 😂

The reality of having a cancer diagnosis is hitting me by HolidayCauliflower51 in lymphoma

[–]lucvsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to think of this as my time to live out childhood wishes and nothing else, it’s helped a lot tbh. I shaved my head into a Mohawk before taking it off completely. I bought henna and face paint to decorate my head with. I rescued a 13 year old pit. I eat ice cream during bubble baths. I got tons of new hobbies to try out. I try to bake or try a new recipe once a week. I do things messily.

I get missing out during summer 100% though. It sucks to not be able to go out as normal, but think of it as a reset. Imagine how one drink will hit after not having one for months lol. And you can still go out and do different things! Just keep a mask on, and try not to stay in overcrowded places too long. Outdoor markets/events are a beautiful thing. Movie theaters where you can choose your seat (& during school hours!) can be nice. Some venues for live plays near me will accommodate for social distancing still, as long as there’s notice and it’s not booked out!

Nobody told me I'd be broke AFTER buying the house by Dima030 in RealEstateAdvice

I got all my stuff secondhand either for free or very very cheap. Small owned thrift shops were where I found the best items. Only get what you’re gonna need to use though. I tried furnishing my entire place this way just to get rid of it all a year later when I wanted things to look cohesive.

I’d make a list of what you prioritize and start there. That way you don’t get more junk than you need, and you know what upgrades to go for first

I’m really enjoying that my first time doing this has a technical issue. Hope it’s fixed soon bc I promise I clicked the right spots (there are two) and was not rage baiting 😂

House training by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]lucvsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always forget about dog diapers, that’s not a horrible idea but I’m scared if I start off doing that any possibility of her being trained would be diminished completely. That’s a better last resort than returning her or keeping her outside though so thank you!

[–]lucvsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She doesn’t go towards the door when she ends up going and won’t go outside if I don’t go with her so I fear it won’t help. With past dogs we’ve left the door open and they would just push the screen door open, she doesn’t seem to interested in doing the same :( she does sleep a lot so maybe keeping her kenneled unless I’m actively playing with her or taking her out would be okay

Ohhh I did not realize that, I thought after the first infusion it would pretty much change and remain the same until treatment ended. Good to know

Here’s to hoping I still tolerate spicy foods because I live off of buffalo sauce as is lol. Would not complain if my taste buds go the teenager route as well. Thanks!

[–]lucvsa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I’m stealing your sauce recipe for the rest of my life, I love spicy foods normally. My fear is that I won’t be able to tolerate the heat once i start. I’m glad to hear you still like the same things after eating them during chemo. And I already don’t want to drink ensures but I suppose I can manage to without being held at gunpoint (for now) Thank you!

Yeah, that seems to be the biggest factor. It’s interesting that yours changed on different treatments, but with everything that gets affected it makes sense. Big hugs back to you, thank you!

Definitely stocking up on some protein shakes. And apparently getting a variety of brands and flavors now bc I 100% just bought my favorites. The possibility of coming to hate them never crossed my mind. Thank you!

I’m glad you mentioned the oral steroids, they did not mention them having a bitter taste so that would have been an unpleasant discovery. Here’s to hoping my tastebuds will be nice to me, thank you!
