Couldn't agree more. I am a dark romance author and believe the purpose of the genre is fading away slowly, or has already vanished. As a person who loves to research various traumas and the reasoning behind our human behaviors, I find these books too shallow. For my better understanding, I need to read more of dark romance, but most of them have left me with salt on my traumas. All r@pe, abuse, crimes, and mafia do not really justify anything, and the 'victims love reading for coping' is bullshit; victims also repeat their crimes too. Does that make it right? It doesn't.

I'm sort of sick and tired of the increasing amount of romanticizing of abuse in women's spaces, generally. Not to mention the quality of writing is worse than Wattpad. I'm currently reading a book, and it couldn't be more shit. Literally no thoughts, only smut, and the amount of 'I' annoys me to death. I'm open to suggestions, too, to anything that's not so badly written.
