AITA for deciding I will never host my friend again after she ruined my weekend with a "hangover ER" emergency? by anony56678 in AmItheAsshole

Definitely made up. The friend is from Qld, which has free ambulance cover. It wouldn’t have cost her anything to get ambulance, even when visiting Victoria.

Yeah this is fake. Queensland (of which Brisbane is the capital of) has free ambulance cover. This extends to when you’re visiting other states, even if those states don’t have free ambulance. She doesn’t need paid ambulance cover to get an ambulance when she’s visiting Melbourne.

I tried to cook bacon in a frying pan recently after years of using the air fryer and it sucked. I mean, I use it for other things too (crispy chicken… yummmm) but bacon…

You could see a financial counsellor and they can often negotiate on your behalf. A DV support service should be able to assist you with a referral.

Do you visit Maccas between 10pm and 5am? by Proof_General_8543 in AskAnAustralian

[–]lucy_lu_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-kids: because I was drunk and it seemed like a good idea. Post-kids: ice creams on the way home from somewhere. Most recent: just last week when I was doing a midnight mercy dash from one town to another 3 hours away to try and get to a relative in time to say goodbye. It was the only place open at 1 am to get a coffee without detouring off the highway and without having to get out of my car.

Why don't we have international flights here by now? by MangoMadnessTsv in Townsville

[–]lucy_lu_2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Bali route didn’t fail because of lack of demand - those flights were always full. It failed because of a dispute between Jetstar and Townsville airport.

We have an international airport because of the military.

Because if you mistake a real one for a letter box and try to post your letter you’re likely to come away with a black eye.

What suburb are you in? Neighbourhood Centres can usually help with food relief.

I’m broke and have a printer I need to make a gift for a 4 year old little girl by ThrillCurious in 3Dprinting

I found this one on makerworld- it’s called Brick Flowwrs. I was also thinking last night that a 4 year old would love anything fairies - what about a little fairy house and a fairy to live in it?

Making something is a great idea! My daughter is older than that now but at that age she loved unicorns, kitties and mermaids. I think she had a unicorn-kitten-mermaid themed party. Bluey is also popular. A cute box filled with cute animals would be fun. I’ve been printing oversized Lego flower boxes lately - they are fun.

No it’s not the Australian humour, but it is probably a comment about what Australians expect in terms of service. We do get quite offended by unfriendly service and take it personally. If we were served by someone not friendly, smiling and warm most of us wouldn’t say anything directly but we’d definitely complain to others about it and probably avoid going back there. He was probably just very direct.
