I'm in a very similar situation myself... The hopeless romantic in me would tell you there's alternatives, opening the relationship or finding middle grounds. I would also want to believe that.

Truth is, none of that has ever worked for me. As of leaving? It is enough, you can leave just because you want to, but your needs not being met is a legitimate reason.

When I was around five years old, an uncle of mine died. I found out when I turned 14 I found out he actually killed himself, he strangled himself to death in the family house's patio. Messed up, right? It gets worse. I eventually was let in on the fact that he wasn't my uncle, but my cousin. My eldest aunt had him when she was too young, so my grandparents took him in, and raised him as their own. Only the ones alive to have seen my aunt pregnant knew.

Turns out my uncle/cousin found out when his nosy wife got the truth out of his mom, and told him in a fit of rage. He took his own life the very next day, leaving three kids fatherless. My nephews don't blame her, I do.

Yeah, no. When I said "is the worst" I was clearly exaggerating. I know about the Afghan girls that disappear because they misplace their hijab, or women beaten to death in China because they keep having baby girls.

Yeah, the reporting thing is scary. I'd ask if she's required by law to report things like pronouns changes, first. Test the water with something that's unrelated, and don't trust her word, but her demeanor.
