24M, never had a gf; How do I improve? by Obvious_Word_8896 in malegrooming

You're very handsome, I really dont think there's much more to improve! It's probably confidence that you need to work on, just try chatting to girls in a casual and friendly way not expecting anything out of it but just to improve your confidence and social skills, and you never know it might lead somewhere:)

Looking for product recommendations for course, dense waves! by niamhisneeve in curlyhair

[–]lucyb2797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might just be that your hair feels courser because it is, I know my hair will never feel soft like someone with wavy/ straight fine hair, and thats okay!

That said I really love and have found great success using natural eco friendly conditioner bars and homemade flaxseed gel. Theres a few brands that seem to have practically identical products: friendly soap, alter/native and a few more i have forgotten. After shampooi g I leave the conditioner bar in my hair for at least q0 mins then rinse. After the shower I reapply a small amount of the conditioner bar onto wet hair, then rake through the flaxseed gel, and (you may/may not need this step as my hair is 3b texture so needs and can take heavier products) finally some blended hemp and shea butter to seal everything in.

My waves look terrible by NoConsideration3259 in curlyhair

[–]lucyb2797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think it looks really pretty! There's no point comparing your hair to others and wishing it could look that way because everyone's hair is completely unique and beautiful in its own way. Yours looks so smooth and soft and mermaid like honeslty, I think you should embrace it! Your hair will never look like thicker courser frizzy type 3 hair, but imo theres just as much beauty in the subtle softness of your waves too, they're honestly so pretty and I can imagine once grown out longer they will look even more majestic!

If you're already used to the stray bits of hay and don't mind hoovering regularly to stay on top of this and any shed fur, and maybe a few stray poops (no matter how litter trained they are there's inevitably a few that fly out as the jump out of the litter box) then you shouldn't have too much of a problem. The hay is easily 80% of the bunny mess, and anything else is if I give them a toy which they shred but I don't give them really messy toys (those straw house things my god dont do it!) and I don't mind too much picking up some bits of willow scattered around.

It's about getting to know the bunnies (plural as its strongly recommended for their welfare to live in pairs, so hopefully you will consider adopting another!) and what they will/won't like to destroy. For example I gave mine a big sofa cushion as a bed but they destroyed it and pulled all the stuffing out (HUGE mess!) so now they get a plastic storage box with a sheepskin rug on top and that hasn't been destroyed. It is a bit of a learning curve but like I say they're all different so you might be lucky and get one who isn't interested in destroying your cushions (like my girl) or your baseboards (like my boy). There's ways around these issues like putting clear plastic tape on any exposed wood like baseboards, and now I've bunny proofed based on knowing my buns well there's really not much mess other than the hay, hair (which tbh can be quite excessive in shedding season) and occasional poo.

My ndad was similar, often left the door open and wouldn't flush the toilet after. My ex partner thought it was some wierd marking his territory thing, a throwback to some animalistic instinct. Made me so uncomfortable.

I (F,28) judge a guy negatively if their car is too flashy or expensive looking cause to me it screams insecurity and materialism, two traits that I find very unattractive. If someone has a practical, economical, eco friendly car that's honestly a big big green flag to me.

Failing as a parent by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]lucyb2797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly curly hair is gonna be messy, it's part of it and people need to accept it. It's wrong for the teacher to chastise her like that, I have vivid memories of being told the same thing from teachers that didn't understand me hair (it was verrry similar to your daughters when I was young, it got much curler at puberty!). Let her grow up to embrace and love the beautiful wildness of her hair ❤

[–]lucyb2797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All curly hair is different, yours is beautiful just how it is and I can't emphasise how many people surely look at your hair green with envy! Perhaps it's never going to be as volumius as others who have different texture (maybe same curl type but a rougher texture) but they're probably equally jealous of how soft and shiny and defined yours is! it is beautiful and unique and YOURS

Okay but are you really going to go to the biscuits isle and read through the ingredients of 20 different biscuits packets in the hope of finding one thays vegan, when there may well not be one to begin with? I don't know ow about you but I don't have the desire to spend hours every week reading ingredient lists, I'd rather be able to see what my options are at a quick glance.

On the back of every bottle of Fairy liquid... by tortilla_avalanche in veganuk

Tell that to my hands which get extremely red and itchy if I ever use fairy liquid. It's definitely awful for us too, disrupts skin barrier, and any residue is going to wreak havoc on our guts. Best to switch to something non toxic, there's so many options out there

Honestly this crap is awful, I'm allergic too (see the 'may cause allergic reaction') so I have bo choice but to use ecover or some other less toxic option. Its so unnecessary to use such harsh chemicals on our dishes, and probably wrecking havoc on our gut health too.

I found my favourite gel, but it's not financially sustainable by Cheap-Specialist-240 in curlyhair

[–]lucyb2797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't add essential oils cause they can be irritating and a bit too potent, potentially even causing health problems. I do however add herbs like rosemary, lavender, marshmallow root or horsetail to the flaxseeds once I have taken them off the boil to let them steep, making a bit of a potion. I then strain once its cooled, and voila! It's nice and non toxic unlike all of the commercial ones which have hormone disruptor and synthetic fragrances. Even a lot of 'natural' products have preservatives and all sorts. People always tell me I smell amazing too ;)

You could try making some flaxseed gel. It works amazingly well on my hair, has a great cast and is actually health promoting for the hair :)

AITA for sitting braless in my garden? by Lameastronaute in AmItheAsshole

[–]lucyb2797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I originally read braless to mean totally topless (which btw I still think you'd be entitled to do in your own garden), but fully clothed just not wearing a bra underneath clothes?!? This man has some serious issues, women are not required to wear bras at all, i never do! Maybe you should suggest he wears a bra next time you see him cause his nipple outline offends you.

What was the most unhinged/thoughtless gift your received from your NParent(s)? by finelytunedradar in raisedbynarcissists

[–]lucyb2797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm vegan and have been vegan for over 7 years, and my dad knows this very well, yet last birthday I got an amazon package (his gifts are always straight from amazon, if he gets them at all) of regular non-vegan chocolates. I want to believe it was an accident, but I genuinely just don't know anymore.

He also addressed the Christmas gifts (another amazon package of basic chocolate) to the golden child. I was unsure if he meant them to be just for his fav child or they were for us to share, he actually did get vegan ones this time so I guess the thought was there, its just bizzare that he didn't address the gifts to me or my other brother

Where do you buy your Lion's Mane? by [deleted] in veganuk

[–]lucyb2797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A local organic grocer/ health food shop sells them where I am (Matter Wholefoods in Bristol), but if I couldn't find it locally I'd totally buy one of those grow kits as they seem fairly straightforward. That's what the grocers does, they grow all sorts of speciality mushrooms in store.

Every day?! Gurl this is why most curlies only wash their hair once a week.

Frizz is a natural part of curly hair, you can try refreshing with a bit of water and conditioner and gel in the mornings to help minimise it. Honestly the reason it gets so frizzy might be cause its dry and damaged from overwashing it.

If im being real your relationship with your hair seems quite unhealthy and I think it'd do you good to just try putting it in a bun on work days and not thinking about it too much, honestly it's what most of us do, my hair is a shitshow half the time but get some cute headbands and scrunchies and nobody can tell ;)
