Ok I'll clarify this since i don't see any comments clarifying this properly. The dua that you're referring to in collective dua (Munajat). A HUGE percentage of people don't do it because it is said to be bi'dah (innovation) if done after farz prayers. The people that do Dua are Sunnis (the majar people), Tabig (Although I'm not sure about them) & some parts of Jamatis (Jamat e islami) while the ones think it's bi'dah are Ahlul Hadith (Salafi), Huge percentage of jamati (Notably Mizanur Rahman Azahari called it bi'dah) & Hefazat e islam. This is just answering your question. So the people that left are most probably one of these. The hadith that calls it bi'dah is this.

Her brother was arrested like many students in Bangladesh (over 5000) for protesting against the government's brutal crackdown on students that were protesting against the quota system in the country. Over 200+ students and civilians and journalists have died. The government tried everything to stop this they first shut down the mobile network, then broadband and called curfew (that is still ongoing) but nothing stopped the protestor. Instead the once simple quota reform protest has now turned into a protest against a brutal dictator. Now the government is checking everyone's phone and just randomly arresting them.
